If anyone is looking for a book which gives a solid, Christian introduction to the OT, I highly recommend Fr. Duggan's The Consuming Fire: A Christian Introduction to the Old Testament.
I am reading it right now and it is excellent. Very scholarly and well researched, provides you with "the big picture," and is Christocentric, linking every OT book to the NT.
