Boycotting "Hollywierd"

Anyone else feel the way I do lately about the anti-American fringe of Hollywood? Anyone else feel the need to avoid their product at all costs? This may not be appropriate for this category, but I am personally done paying $8.50 to go see any of these Hollywood clowns in a movie, and I'm done supporting TV shows with the likes of Martin Sheen and George Clooney. And don't get me started on Harry "Blowhard"afonte.
Anyone else see the issue here like I do, or am I in for some serious debate on the morality of the Hollywood liberal extremists of the world?

Just curious what you thought about all of this anti-American, President Bush bashing coming from the mouths of ignorant fools like Susan Sarandon, Jeannine Garafalo, Sean Penn, The Dixie Chicks, etc, etc, etc.

I suppose it must be said again: Being against the war does not make one UnAmerican. Disliking President Bush does not make one UnAmerican. And refusing to see a Susan Sarandon movie because she's against a war is about as intelligent as refusing to read something by Oscar Wilde because he was homosexual.

A person's political views do not determine the quality of his or her art.

And just a question: have you ever been to Hollywood? Do you personally know the politcal views of every person there? If you don't, then you have no right to stereotype an entire group of people based on your biased--and wrong--views. How are you any better than any of the stars you mentioned? Because you agree with yourself?

So you are telling me that you agree with Harry Bellafonte when he says that Colin Powell is an "Uncle Tom" and that President Bush and his cabinet are "men of evil"?

And tell me why I should support ANYTHING put out by these people if I don't agree with their points of views? That's like me giving money to the Ku Klux Klan, when I abhor what they are for. That would be like supporting the Chinese government, etc. That's the glorious part of freedom of expression and speach. Sure, shoot your mouth of like a moron and say all sorts of nasty things about the war and the President of the US, but don't expect me to sit here and be stupid enough to support your work when you spout your sewer off about things ignorantly.

And while we are at it, let's ask Jesse Jackson how he gets away with extorting money from corporate America by scaring them into racist policies.

And yes, I will stereotype Hollywood. I doubt very few actors/actresses have a faith in God. I would guess that most of them are atheists, which is nothing but a cover for self-worship. Why do you think they became actors in the first place - to save the human race? They all wanted to be rich and famous.

And Jesus says, "You cannot serve both God and money".

Besides, the money I have came from God. Why should I support an atheist craft with God's money? Hmmm....

KeysforChrist, is it only Hollywood you would boycott or does that extend also to musicians, independent and foreign filmmakers, novelists, etc? Just curious.

For my part, I see no reason to deny myself the opportunity to see a good film, enjoy good music, or read a good book because of the public statements of someone I might disagree with; I reserve my "boycott dollars" for offenses more serious than people exercising their 1st Amendment rights.

Tim Robbins, Susan Sarandon and Sean Penn are favorite whipping boys of the conservative set these days, but it remains the case that their collaboration on "Dead Man Walking" was one of the most even-handed, intelligent and emotionally devastating films of recent memory brave enough to tackle such a sensitive subject. IMO, it would be a shame if widespread boycotting of such artists resulted in such films never being made in the future.

Of course, it's your money.

No, just to the public Hollywood types that take advantage of their name to spout their venom at the POTUS and the rest of the leaders of our government. I would never shy away from supporting the arts of other musicians, playwrites, dancers, etc. The serious arts are worthy of support. But the atheists and anti-Americans in Hollywood will never see another dime of mine.

And please, don't get me started on that loser Eminem.

If it's anti-american to dislike a coke-snorting president, sign me up. (How many right-wing conservative fascists will *that* annoy?)

And honestly, now. How can anyone complain about any artist's work if one has never heard/viewed said works? More specifically, *Keys*, how do you know Eminem's a loser?

"My baby girl keeps getting' older.
I watch her grow up with pride.
People make jokes cuz they don't understand me,
they just don't see my real side
I act like **it don't phase me, inside it drives me crazy.
My insecurities could eat me alive
But then I see my baby, suddenly I'm not crazy.
It all makes sense when I look in her eyes."

Yeah, you're right. What a loser.

my problem with the media is usually that there is so much sex. i am sick of sex. it bores me, because it's in everything. when you can't buy a soda without seeing people have sex, then you know it's getting overused. boring...and movie/media prices are higher then they should be. i usually go to the cheap theatre, that shows movies which have been out for awhile.

however, i don't see anything anti-american with anyones views. if you're an american...then anything you say is american. censoring the speech of americans is not american. what you mean is that anti-war protests are against the american government policy...not against this country. *yes, i am in america, ignore the norway flag...i lived there for a while* i don't think anyone is ignorant for espousing a certain viewpoint, especially in dramatic issues like war. they are just saying what they feel, based on their understanding. i personally dislike bush and distrust him a great deal. i think he is arrogant and too stubborn...however, since my older brother is an american soldier, i'm not anti-america at all. there are changes to be made...accepting everything as perfect or denying problems is not pro-american either, it's pro-status quo

"Was he convicted of snorting coke? I must have missed that. M"

Of course not. Rich daddy got it all cleared up for him. He was, however, arrested for possession in.... mid-70s, if I remember correctly. I'd have to re-check. Bush, jr has done some Not Nice Things(tm) in his day. In fact, he's done some downright Bad Things(tm).

no thats what they say...they are supposedly for labor, civil rights, women and all these other things that support the people but they fail to recognize that they are setting up a system that still keeps the people down.
and who cares if i am the first one to say that dems claim to be the peoples party on this thread? i didnt know i had to have the same recycled ideas that everyone else has to be accepted
