please pray for a new teacher

Hello friends, I just graduated and am in my first teaching position. I have wanted to be a teacher since I started school. I love school, I love learning, I love my subjects and working with students. I still do, but I am really struggling. I knew teaching would be hard, but I never imagined...

    Church must help Israel?

 Exactly. And if we help Israel just because God made a covenant with them.. then what about the Palestinian Christians? The Jewish people are our "older brothers" in faith, they gave us our Old Testament, and God did establish Israel. God loves them as He loves all people. But...

    Please pray for me

I've been going through a difficult time lately. I've been dealing with some on going health problems that seem to be getting worse and I do not really know what is wrong. I am also facing some academic and work related issues at the moment. And it is all affecting my spiritual life and...

A deadly vaccine: 3 reasons Catholics leave the Church...

That's a really good analogy. I think that our society has just enough exposure to Christianity that most people can claim to know what Christianity is about (even though it is often misrepresented) and say that they don't want to hear any more because they think they've already heard it all...

I often hear people complain that Mass is boring.

I still remember just a years ago, when I couldn't go to Mass most of the time because I couldn't get there on my own- It was really rough. Now I can't imagine not going to Mass, and even a week feels like forever! That's the thing , a lot of people go to Mass without...

    Was my confession valid?

The "Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner" is actually one of the acts of contritions printed in the "Guide to confession" they give us at my parish. I remember the first time I went to confession in a long time, I was so nervous I couldn't say the Act of Contrition which I...

Is it arrogant to say that you're on the path to Heaven?

I can't say for sure that I am going to heaven, but I can say for sure that God will not abandon me, no matter what, and is always leading me towards heaven. Any uncertainty is due to the fact that although God won't let go of me, I can certainly make poor choices and let go of Him.

Explaining to fellow Catholics why I need to go to confession before Mass

Glad to hear that! It really strengthens my faith and reminds me of the importance of confession and the Eucharist when I see fellow Catholics strive to be closer to Jesus these sacraments. :) You are in my prayers, God bless you!

Heartfelt prayer keeps faith from becoming ideology, pope says at Mass

I bookmarked this. I love what Pope Francis says here- It is a good reminder for me about what my faith life should be focused on. Makes me think of one of my favourite quotes: "Let your religion be less of a theory and more of a love affair." - G.K. Chesterton Thank you for sharing!

Explaining to fellow Catholics why I need to go to confession before Mass

I can totally relate to that- I am the only practicing Catholic in my family- the rest of my family is agnostic/atheist. I just tell my family that I like to go once a month, it's therapeutic and helps me a lot in my life. That, I think they can understand. It was hard at first, but with the...

Explaining to fellow Catholics why I need to go to confession before Mass

Do you mean that they think it's crazy that you have to go to church twice a week- on Saturday for confession and then Sunday for Mass? Also, remember, it's only a mortal sin if you chose to commit a serious sin with full knowledge and freedom.

    Inner healing service

One of my former co-workers (a Catholic) mentioned something at her church called an "inner healing service". She talked about her life really changed afterwards and suggested I go to one if I ever have the chance. I was wondering if anyone could tell me more about these... I have heard of...

    Occasional Mass = horrible sin?

Well I would hope that telling them would encourage them to go to Mass and realize how important it really is. The Mass is such a gift- it is where we with the Church encounter Jesus in the Eucharist, unite ourselves to him and are filled with his divine life... Even if they aren't committing...

    Occasional Mass = horrible sin?

For them to be in a state of mortal sin though they would have to know how serious it is to miss Mass. A lot of people I know, even ones who go to Mass all the time, are surprised when they find out that missing Sunday Mass is a grave sin.

People say Charismatic Catholics are Jesus-Freaks?

I've never heard that. :( I'm not Charismatic but I have some friends who are. My priest always says that we should all strive to be Jesus freaks :) I consider it a compliment.
