This woman had no problem issuing marriage licenses to couples engaged in bigamy, inappropriate contentography and pre-marital sex. One of the cornerstones of Christianity is that we are all sinners who need to be saved. She readily served straight people who committed sin. Why does it suddenly become a religious violation when it's two homosexuals?
Are we really going there?
Well, let's see.
Until there's a law passed wherein the same thing as the old scarlet letter is affixed to the bosom of the Christian that sins so as to publicly humiliate them, straight couples sins are unknown.
Whereas two men or two women seeking a marriage license are making it public that they're homosexuals.

"The Supreme Court on Monday ruled against the Kentucky county clerk who has refused to issue same-sex marriage licenses, and the clerk will arrive at work Tuesday morning to face her moment of truth.

Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis will have to choose whether to issue marriage licenses, defying her Christian conviction, or continue to refuse them, defying a federal judge who could pummel her with fines or order that she be hauled off to jail..."

This needs to end. If doing her job violates her sincere beliefs, she should resign. That's what any rational person would do.

I absolutely agree.

I'm also glad this thread is still alive, ha. I started a thread about this in another section yesterday, and by the time I finished up with stuff today and popped online there were 8 pages to it and it had already been closed. o_O

So?

If what they are doing isn't illegal, then she has no right to tell them not to do it.

Until Kentucky repeals their sodomy laws, it is illegal.
In fact, it is illegal in each and every state that has sodomy laws still on the books.
Because until a law is repealed, it is enforceable.

And that is the out, sort of speak, for Christian activists opposed to this absurd SCOTUS ruling.

Exactly. I guess they must think that homosexuality is the only sexual sin, or any sin, that is relevant to God and is the only sin He will judge. I wonder how many of the Christians who are judging homosexuals for their sins have ever lied or how many times have they lied during their lifetime. You know, the bible says that God hates liars and all liars will have their part in the lake of fire. And I wonder how many of the Christians who are judging homosexuals for their sins have ever looked with lust at someone of the opposite sex. Jesus said that whoever looks at a woman to lust after her has already committed adultery with her in his heart. So, that log in their eye must be heavy.

Yep/ She needs to resign or be put in prison for contempt of court and replaced by a competent person who can carry out the job.

The fact that she has been divorced three times and is currently on her fourth marriage should also be mentioned - hypocrisy at its finest.

Can't happen. :)

It's irrelevant. Her personal life is irrelevant! If she was married and divorced a dozen times God forgives her and remembers her sins no more.
The restrictions concerning divorce were legalism that applied to the Jews. Not the gentiles.
Now it's three times? It has been mentioned. But so far no proof! Just slurs.

Where's your proof?

Remember, and it harm none do what thou wilt.
Slander at its worst! Unless you can show proof of your claims about her marriage.

I think she should be fired too.

She should be replaced by a competent person who can actually do the job without causing all this fuss to get their name in the papers and their face on T.V.

Worst part was she was trying to make an example by not issuing marriage licenses at all when she'd probably have no issue doing so to straight couples. She should've just been honest and not given them to gay couples and said that it was her religious conscience. At least she wouldn't have seemed like as much of a hypocrite.

Do you have the proof of her multiple marriages?

Her marriage licenses are a matter of public record.

Edited to add the picture of her license.

As is everyone's who is married.

Finally! Thank you for that link.

And it is still irrelevant to the issue. Her sins are forgiven, God remembers them no more. The same cannot be said for sexually active unrepentant's. (keeping within the rules of discourse on this particular topic)
She refuses to give consent to provide a license to two people who 1.) are in violation of Kentucky's sodomy laws. While it can be presumed straights are too, it is for certain that two men seeking to wed are. The sodomy laws are grandfathered in and existed prior to the SCOTUS ruling. The SCOTUS ruling cannot violate state laws that preclude violation by a blatant class. I.E. Two men are clearly going to be committing the crime of sodomy. As would two women because that is the only avenue of intercourse for their behaviors to express themselves.
While a straight couple cannot be presumed as such.

And 2.) are in violation of God's plan and design as the originator of marriage. (per Christian doctrine).

Four marriages. Wow. I thought it was "only" three. I'm sure though that God led her to those men each time, and then told her it was okay to divorce them, and then told her it was okay to commit more and more adultery. She should be glad she doesn't live in the theocracy she so longs for, as she would have been stoned to death already.

You forget the ceremonial/civil and moral law distinction.

I don't think the true interest for some arriving in this thread is respect for or knowledge of Christian doctrine or theology, quite frankly.

BTW, I love the Horus YT collection. Have you seen the one about other savior god's? ^_^ Perfection.

It's not hypocrisy since those were actual marriages. This is simply an arrangement that the government has chosen to recognize as a marriage. It recognizes 15 year olds as eligible to marry in some states but not in others, and this is much the same. It's just what the government chooses to put its stamp of approval on.
