"The Supreme Court on Monday ruled against the Kentucky county clerk who has refused to issue same-sex marriage licenses, and the clerk will arrive at work Tuesday morning to face her moment of truth.

Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis will have to choose whether to issue marriage licenses, defying her Christian conviction, or continue to refuse them, defying a federal judge who could pummel her with fines or order that she be hauled off to jail..."

This needs to end. If doing her job violates her sincere beliefs, she should resign. That's what any rational person would do.

Then Christians are prohibited from working in the county recorder's office, operating hotels, decorating wedding cakes, photographing weddings, renting wedding chapels, driving taxis, etc. All of these things have gotten observant Christians taken to court and sued or fined for refusing to violate their faith by participating or assisting in the commission of abomination. We could end up with quite a long list of ways we are prohibited from earning a living, given the creativity of the homosexual militants.

You're right. This needs to end. The Supreme Court has got to stop destroying our democracy.

This woman opposes gay marriage because it defies her Christian convictions, but she's in her FOURTH marriage. Honestly, if she was so overly concerned about the sanctity of marriage being preserved, then she wouldn't be in her fourth marriage. She has been married four times and divorced three times. It makes her look like such a hypocrite.

Easy to say what she should do but harder to do it if any of us were in her exact shoes. Part of me thinks that she should just do her job and render to Caesar what is Caesars'. OTOH, perhaps seek to have a change of job title to another area where that particular task isn't required. Quitting is of course an option. Considering it's a public employment job, I'm not sure refusing is an option legally. (it seems it isn't)

I agree with you here. Ideas have consequences and one of the consequences is that Christians and people of other faiths will lose freedom of religion. We will have freedom of worship (keep it in the church folks, don't bring it into the public). I believe the Supreme Court has set this up already and of course the government will be all too willing to see that liberty diminish.

The supreme court has to first snap out of their delusion and recognize that there are Bible verses on monuments and Federal buildings all over D.C.
They won't take God out of America as easily as they imagine they can.

A marriage license is a privilege not a right and is afforded by the 10th amendment that empowers the states.
It should be interesting to see if this clerk holds her ground and rebells against the unconstitutional SCOTUS decision.

She already showed us what she'd do when she's in her own shoes by refusing to issue licenses after the SCOTUS decision.
I doubt this Federal judge's decision who's member of a lower court than SCOTUS will have more weight than they did.

Christians are to render unto Caesar as long as it comports with God's word. When it doesn't and the Christian has to choose between man and God they must choose God.

Good points. You are of course right. I do agree strongly with you that the SCOTUS is operating outside of it's Constitutional mandates.

And that's perfectly fine. But she's a public employee. Residents of that county pay her salary, and they expect her to do her job on their behalf. If the duties of that job conflict with her convictions, then she must find other work. That's the honorable thing to do.

There's a remedy for any bad SCOTUS ruling--a Constitutional amendment. If she resigns her county job, she can devote her energies to getting one passed.

And the only one's that can stop them is Congress.
When the GOP are in majority now in both houses and yet they're not stopping Obama as they promised they would should they acquire that position, they're not about to stop SCOTUS.

And Christians need to stop defying the government to display hypocrisy and hatred.

Congress alone can't stop the Supreme Court. That requires a Constitutional Amendment.

That's not true. Congress can impeach SCOTUS members.
For what? They haven't committed an impeachable offense. Only one justice has ever been impeached. Samuel Chase in 1805, and he was acquitted by the Senate.

You have a better chance of getting hit by an asteroid than seeing a Supreme Court justice impeached.
