• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I take 200 mg. It has helped tremendously with the depression, but I have to take an AP (Geodon) to counter the hypomania in can sometimes bring because it works so well on the depression side. It is pretty sensitive to having to be at the right therapeutic dose, and that dose can be different for different people.

Thanks for the reply Odetta. I seem
to b getting back anxiety. I take clonazepam for it but am running low so im not taking 2 a day. Mind is starting to race some. I'll stay with it til I get to 200mgs. May need an add on but need to hook up with a good PD.

I think also that good medication can be combined with a daily prayer and Bible reading habit, which can concentrate our minds upwards. :)

It's very rewarding if we do keep up the feeding prayerfully on His Word, over and above meds. Blessings.

Seconded. I can't have one without the other if I require any kind of stability in my life.

I've found that for me, I need medication to help with the mood swings that the biology of my brain creates. However, my anxiety is more of a spiritual issue - for me. It can certainly be a biology issue for others. So I treat the bipolar symptoms with medication (and prayer and bible study) and the anxiety with prayer and bible study. I do have some anti-anxiety meds to take when things get too much, but I haven't really had to use it because prayer works.

I got the rash that they warn you about, so I had to stop Lamictal. That was 20 years ago when it was new and my psychiatrist whispered the word "Lamictal" like it was magic. I didn't take it long enough to know if it helped, but my new psych refuses to prescribe it because they still haven't been able to determine which cases of rash are deadly and which aren't.
