Just before Christ died, He said “It is finished” (John 19:28-30). What does the word “It” refer to - what was finished?
In Titus 2:14, it describes what he finished by saying that Jesus gave himself to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people of his own possession who are zealous for doing good works, so becoming zealous for doing good works in obedience to God's law is the way to believe in what he finished on the cross (Acts 21:20).Just before Christ died, He said “It is finished” (John 19:28-30). What does the word “It” refer to - what was finished?
When specifically did this happed - just after Jesus died on the cross?-The payment for sin God required, Jesus on the cross took away the sin of the world.
When specifically did this happed - just after Jesus died on the cross?
What does the "when" matter? The WHAT is what matters, the "when" is irrelevant. God's work is not bound by time. When specifically did this happed - just after Jesus died on the cross?
Scripture had been fulfilled. There were many unfulfilled prophesies before Jesus Christ of Nazareth came. From the temple made desolate to the infilling of His Holy Spirit in the believer, all that was promised to the world came to fruition in Him. Blessings.Just before Christ died, He said “It is finished” (John 19:28-30). What does the word “It” refer to - what was finished?
This isn't a chatroom. To whom are you responding here?Everything according to the will of the Father was and is completed in Jesus, Jesus showing us through Himself (in human form) the perfect character of God, because He was and Is God.
John 17:4 New King James Version (NKJV)I have glorified You on the earth. I have finished the work which You have given Me to do.
That is the common answer that most people give, but it is not correct. The apostle Paul states that for the work of our salvation to be complete, Christ had to first rise from the dead: “… for if the dead are not raised, then Christ has not been raised. And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is in vain; and you are still in your sins. Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ are lost" (1 Corinthians 15:12-18) – also see Romans 4:25.The plan of God to reconcile the world to Himself.
Dear Jesse,The payment, I think is the most logical choice.

Dear Taylor,-The payment for sin God required, Jesus on the cross took away the sin of the world.
When a bail is posted for someone in jail,Now obviously, when Christ was on the cross, and He said "It is finished", He had not yet risen from the dead. So, if we are still in our sins, how could the work of our salvation be complete?
If you think/ thought you already know the answer,That is the common answer that most people give, but it is not correct.
When a bail is posted for someone in jail,
the one putting up the bail may call that someone or see them in person
and , having paid the bond, they may well say "it is done" /finished..... all is accomplished that is needed for you to be released....
even if it takes some time for the action to be accomplished .... it is effectively fulfilled, finished, accomplished when the payment was made.... if I understand the bail process ...
