I just find it both petty and hilarious how desperate some people are to cleave onto something... must find something derogatory or life ceases. As if any of this means a single thing at this point in time.

What I find hilarious is that when things go bad for something important to the conservative agenda that they've been yelling and screaming about for years ("build that wall, build that wall, build that wall"), they pretend like it never mattered to them ("oh, wait, it was all just a scam meant to defraud me of my money and make these Republican grifters rich? Meh, I didn't really care one way or the other anyways.").

And that is exactly what this is all about. Some sort of personal gratification Kolfage was arrested. People are getting their kicks believing this is some sort of devastating event they can rub in peoples faces.

There is no symbology. It's a tool. It is termed as a symbol in some vain attempt to denigrate what is the actual purpose of having that wall.

From your posts earlier in the thread, it's clear that you cling to the symbology of what the wall represents as much as you do the efficacy of the wall itself. There are better, smarter ways to manage immigration than just building a great big, shiny wall. If this fight were merely about efficacy, then the pro-wall crowd would be fighting for that smarter, more technical, more nuanced approach. But they're not.

The wall as a symbol represents a sort of bulwark against outside forces, unwelcome intruders who would undermine your competitiveness in the workplace and displace you from your home. It's a symbol that you matter more than those other people.

I went back and read the beginning of this thread. The OP was a wall supporter and apparently was going to donate some of his money to the cause despite not being well off.

I wonder what that person thinks now that it has been shown that not only was some of the money he donated stolen, but that Trump saw fit to pardon the criminal who did it for the very same crime.

This has been on Fox news, and other local news outlets. The individual in question is a real person, and his credentials are verified as that real person. Brian Kolfage is directly linked to this effort, and trending in the view of social media. He could not possibly pull off a scam without immediate repercussions.
