Even if humans did evolve from monkeys that doesn't mean God doesn't exist so if you win this debate how have you promoted atheism? It seems like you're fighting a battle in which a victory is meaningless to your cause.
Well, Rational thinking and curbing misunderstanding is the goal, not Atheism.
Sorry, I'm new here. I thought atheists were here to promote atheism. I haven't yet figured out that their intentions are much more noble.
:D Well, I hope that's at least one wall against rational thinking and curbed misunderstanding knocked down then?
There are many theories about where we all came from, but the important question on most people's mind is, where do we go when we die?" Of course, no one has been able to come back from the dead to tell us, so for many people it is a fearful mystery. Paul the Apostle said, "If I had hope just in this life, I would of all men be most miserable." As there are no atheists in battle ground foxholes, I doubt that there would be many atheists once they reach their death beds. Or might I say not many peaceful or happy atheists...

I guess we will all find out the truth 5 minutes after we are dead.
All the time we ask "where does our consciousness go when we die?" but nobody ever gets concerned enough to ask "where does our digestion go when we die?" - why the double standard?
Creationism must have such explanatory power as well as it can also answer this question.

The Chicken, because it was created fully formed and already capable of reproducing it's own kind.
From the scientific theory of evolution POV, yes, the egg came first.

From the creationist POV, the chicken came first.
This is a testable hypothesis:
It was the egg.
Red junglefowl laid eggs before chickens were domesticated.
Galliformes laid eggs before chickens came to be.
Bird laid eggs 120,000,000 years before chickens.
Amniotes laid amniotic eggs 300,000,000 years before chickens.
Animals were producing eggs 600,000,000 years before chickens.

It's always the egg.
The evidence indicates Evolution and not Creation. It also shows the folly of picking any answer to fill a gap over waiting for the right answer. Look at the confusion in the world now because of all these biblical "answers" that were written down before we actually knew what the answer really was.

I have a friend that every time I see him eating a banana I am tempted to believe in Evolution!

Mockery does not address the evidence for evolution. And what's with the banana thing? Do folks not realize that bananas are a human invention and our hominid cousins don't eat them in the wild?

Isn't it true that the scientific theory of evolution has such explanatory power that it can finally answer the question: what came first, the chicken or the egg?

Absolutely not. Evolution can NOT answer that.

Which is clear the egg, because the ancestors of the chicken were laying eggs eons before there ever were any chickens. So, eggs had a long time to wait before their contents were chickens.

Egg of what? A croc?
It is obviously wrong.

Belief in evolution can get nasty.

The problem is that the whole theory of Evolution is a croc!
Evolution allows people to do things without conviction.

Are we playing the non-sequitur game again?
No. He is just saying that if there is no God, then people can do what they like with no fear of a final judgment when they have to account for what they do in their lives.

Evolution has nothing to do with it. The Roman Catholics, who accept evolution, are as staunch opponents of abortion as any creationist.

Evolution has nothing to do with whether or not there is a god. Nor does it have anything to do with abortion. Hence, the non-sequitur comment.

The problem is that the whole theory of Evolution is a croc!

How would you know? Could you briefly explain the theory of evolution and why you think it's problematic?
