This music gets hated on quite a bit, and some of it I get (Creed), but I'll be honest: 90's Alternative is kind of a guilty pleasure of mine. Every so often I go on a binge and listen to a few of those mixes like "Buzz Cuts" or "The Edge" just for nostalgic kicks and giggles. Takes me back when I was in Jr. High, which was actually a pretty good time for me. It also reminds me of some of those "coming of age" movies that were popular from like 1997-2002 like American Pie, Not Another Teen Movie, Road Trip, Loser, etc.

Anybody else listen to this style of music?

Like most things, music took a drastic turn for the worse after the 90s.
I enjoy the era because artists were still passionate and angry and real, yet, for the most part, remained intelligent.

However, I do lack the nostalgic factor others may have, as I was still a baby. Lol.

If it werent for 80-90s music I would have no need for speakers.

I LOVE 80s and 90s music and I don't care what anyone says.

Even the stuff I hated back when it was new I like today.... maybe its the nostalgia to it, but the music of today is worthless to me. (Once in a rare while there is something worth while but NOT very often)

I so want to argue about this.

As for the 90's, the music I grew up listening to was Eurodance. I still listen to it pretty often for nostalgia:

Eh. I am 92.7% right, at least.

However, there is an invisible disclaimer in my previous post for metal being an exception. There is a higher majority percentage for Metal artists still understanding the importance behind passion, emotion, and intelligence in music.

In My Opinion.

Now there's a discussion waiting to happen.

Don't worry, there is still plenty of garbage metal too. :)
Ha, ha, to be sure. I'm not nearly as immersed in the metal scene as I was a couple years ago, so my contributions to said discussion would likely be limited. Leaves' Eyes and Epica each have a couple albums I've not heard, to show you how behind the times I am. :p

Ah darn, I didn't see it because, well, you know...

I'm quoting you in some place else, so we don't derail this.

btw. I posted this first in some politics thread accidentally (too many browsers open) and had a surreal moment there...

You didn't miss anything...

The problem with 'discussing' music... it is too perspective based. I am sure most people here would find my playlist appalling. Lol
But I have spent the better part of a decade finding, what I think, are the 'perfect' bands.
I am extremely picky, however I have put the time and effort into the right to be this way... :p

I just don't enjoy music that lacks thought and inspiration, which is the majority of it...

Hmm... Interesting. I suspected as much regarding Epica; I was rather disappointed with Design Your Universe.

I can certainly relate to your decade-long quest as I did something quite similar.

This is rather off topic, ha, ha.
