True. Nor would he. Nevertheless, it's helpful to gain some insight as to where he's truly coming from, since it's apparent he has been influenced by these sites and seemingly actually believes them to be credible. Otherwise, they probably wouldn't appear as links on the homepage.

Maybe Dicy was laboring under this "fact" as cited by another of the articles, as "fact" number 15:

15. Catholics are unwilling to defend their faith

FACT: When Roman Catholics are challenged from the Bible to defend their faith, they are unwilling or unable to defend what they believe and say the priest has the answer and never search the truth out for themselves.

There are tons of "facts" like this, including the obligatory variation of "The Boettner List." It's a hoot. It's also a little sad that there are folks out there who would take this stuff seriously.

FACT: The Pope teaches that he can change what is in the Bible if he wants.

Each "fact" is equally ridiculously false and misleading, and each is more absurd than the next. If this stuff weren't so pathetic, it would be side-splittingly funny.

Pray for those souls that are misled by deceptive sites like these.

I agree with the first person who answered... most of what I've seen of anti-Catholicism has been online or in books, not in person. I guess the worst I saw was when I came out of the Cathedral one Sunday and found that SDAs had put a booklet on every windshield in the parking lot railing against us as the harlot of babylon. There was also an ad they put in the paper, but they were forced later to publish an apology.

Online, I actually have some amusing stories. One guy who used to come to the Catholic chat room I frequented had gotten kicked out and had started his own, claiming to be Catholic. When you spoke to him, he of course said he used to be Catholic (this guy didn't even know the sign of the cross!)

At first, I would try to point out that Satan is the father of lies, so if he has to resort to lying to gain followers, then it wasn't God he was following. That had no effect... so I started playing games with his mind. I joined his chat room and would agree with everything he said... and then take it to its natural conclusion, making his perspective look very silly. For instance, I "agreed" with him that vain repetition is a terrible sin, and that praying the Our Father was obviously sinful, too.

I know, I probably should have tried to reason with him or something, instead of mocking him... but some people just aren't reasonable.

Now, I don't ignore verses, our interpretation on the scriptures is fundementally so different because you take it literally while I don't take it all literally. so it may seem that I would be ignoring verses but I am not that foolish.

Dicy, I think you need to go back and read your posts. You indeed do promote yourself and your own understanding of scripture as your only measure of truth.

You do indeed ignore context and early Church history that proves what the early Christians actually practiced and believed.

You have chosen to buy into the anti Catholic hype and for that, I'm sad.

Ok so you now know what I think. Great, then you don't have to ask any questions ever again from me because you can just go to those sites and read what I think. Let me know as well what do I think next time we talk so I know where we are going because I haven't yet read all of the articles.

PS. I know the site theme is anti catholic but there is much more content than just that. Starting from the fact that Jesus is Lord and the only way to heaven.

Those sites are not Christian sites. They are so only by paying lip service to Christ as being Lord but their hearts are very far from Him.

They are filled with hate and lies about Christ and His Church as well as His holy mother.

How could you associate yourself with them, I must wonder?

I am still confused as to why Dicy is still here. Does he seek an answer to a question he hasn't asked yet? Is he still fretting over the answers we previously gave him to his "drinking blood" question?

I have all the Christian resource I will ever need from the Church that has existed for 2000 years. The Vatican documents, the ECF, the writings of the saints over the last 2000 years, the CCC, along with the Holy Bible.

I dont need to go to a anti christian/anti catholic site to learn about Christianity or the bible.

The treacherous thing about knowledge is that the truth has been hidden from the wise and prudent and revealed to babes.

Read the other stuff aside from the anti-catholic and you might agree on what they are writing. There are some good Bible study articles and answers in Jesus is lord com.

If truth was revealed to the babes and hidden from the wise, why go to another person for bible study articles and answers?

I had my doubts about the efficacy of this thread, anyway, when it first started, and whether any good would come of it, which is why I've sort of been keeping an eye on it. Now it's gotten way off track . . . and I take my share of responsibility for that. Nevertheless, what's done is done. If our visitor has any sincere questions, he's free to start another thread and ask them. But let's not waste anymore energy on this stuff here, in this thread.
