Dear Daily Message Readers,
READ: Romans 10
Romans 10:13 (NIV) "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."
Life is full of interesting phrases and word choices, especially in younger Christian circles. Join a youth group for an outing and you are sure to hear you the expression, "You go, God!" This is the expression used whenever God answers a prayer.
To me, that expression is not only a way to thank God for His goodness, it also describes Him. Our God does "go." He moves to people in their time of need. Take, for instance, how He took the step of sending His Son to go get us when we were lost in our sins. It is no coincidence that in Jesus' parable of the prodigal son, the father does not wait for the son to come to him; instead, he takes off running the second he sees his child heading home.
We are also like the Lord when we go and evangelize. As Paul described the process of evangelism, he started with someone going to tell someone else about the gospel: "How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?15And how can they preach unless they are sent?" (Romans 10:14-15)
Paul's point here is very clear. He says we can share the plan of salvation in our churches, Sunday school classes, Bible studies, but most non-Christians won't be there. For them to hear, we will have to go to them. A tree falling in the forest might or might not make a noise; a person evangelizing a room full of believers is even worse off.
Do you want to find where God is at work? Then ask Him where you can go and be a blessing in someone's life. As you go faithfully, you will find the places He is visiting and you will be able to say, "You go, God!" when that person comes to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. Faith Lesson: Sharing the Gospel starts with "Go": "Go ye therefore..." (Matthew 28:19).
In Christ,
Darin Smith
