ok, I thought this section says: "Christian Forums > Theology (Christians Only) > Theology > Christian Current Affairs > ( Yet another nail in the creationist coffin)"Intelligent Design" is a hoax
created to slip creationism into the public schools.
ok, I thought this section says: "Christian Forums > Theology (Christians Only) > Theology > Christian Current Affairs > ( Yet another nail in the creationist coffin)
so why is there a post, about INTELLIGENT-design, as a "hoax";
and further
whatdoes 'texasLynn' want to "recruit" people to? <-- what brand of christianity?
I hope the OP considers these responses "ON-topic"Why so surprised?
It is possible to be a Christian and accept evolution, and reject ID/creation science.

It's a bona fide concept, whether or not you want anyone to know about it.
Intelligent Design and Creationism are two different things, although the determined secularists would like everyone to think that the situation is exactly just as your conspiracy theory makes it out to be.
Curiously, would you please just simply answer... the question given you.Why not?
That's your Rosarsch Test right there.
Yep, just like ketchup and catsup.
Curiously, would you please just simply answer... the question given you.
(without falling back on some defenseless 'psycho-babble', like that completely-insane, btw it's spelled 'Rorschach'test: The Rorschach Test; refuted by competent therapists as, beyond harmful, completely useless , with the objective 'MMPI' only a few steps away.)
Most competent & skilled Counselors, were you to study a bit of that, advanced some time ago to "personality-Facilitation"essays, that actually have some redeeming intrinsic value for patient clients.
Of course, the really successful are skilled in how...via deep rapport guiding each Individual healings... and once you've availed yourself of this, just simply answering... questions posed you, will be much easier!
.
Well, that's why conspiracy theories appeal to people as this one does to you.
You don't have to have any proof or even any evidence. In fact, in the only instance in which you came close to speaking in specifics, you were wrong (when citing the school cases in Kansas, etc.).
But, no matter, that's the nature of a conspiracy theory--just say "But I know what they really want..." and it's almost above being either proved or disproved.
After suffering a series of losses over the teaching of evolution in public schools , some leaders in the Religious Right's creationist movement regrouped, and began advancing a theory called "intelligent design" or ID... speaking before general audiences, ID proponents claim the designer could be anything from God to a space alien, but speaking behind closed doors they readily admit that the designer is the God described in the Book of Genesis.

Actually that's not quite correct Brother!
The smoking gun in one of the latest cases (Kansas, I think) was that the opposition found some of the original drafts of the material the Intelligent Design people were trying to get into the school.
You know what? The editing and metadata demonstrated clearly that document/book had been edited to replace every single instance of the word "Creatiionism" with the phrase "Intelligent Design".
On the other hand, Creationism, by strict definition is the concept that GOD created everything in the world. "Intelligent Design" only infers SOMETHING created the world. The concept allows for aliens, even!
Intelligent Design was part of the "Wedge Theory" which was a plan developed by Phillip Johnson who wanted to get intelligent design into the schools as a wedge-- kinda like the "foot in the door" concept.
Having said all that (and this is important!) I believe God created everything that exists. (John 1:1-3).
I have not, however, decided whether I believe in the Old Earth Theory or the Young Earth Theory.
I hope I haven't offended anyone here, after all I am the new guy-- but I really believe that when we talk to unbelievers about these things we need to make sure we are dead sure of our facts-- otherwise we'll lose credibility.

Most Christians, and most people in general, regard creationism as a misguided atavistic understanding, not based in reality. It is generally adhered to by members of sects which do not explore such things clearly at all and value it only as a manifestation of the political correctness they advocate.
Actually it was determined in Dover that ID was religion and NOT science. This by a judge who is a devout Catholic Bush appointee.
I don't think that's really pertinent to the points I made... but if you're looking for a debate, you won't find it here. I'm too new to the forums to do something like that.
Either way, I have an aversion to any court of law telling me what to think or believe.
I wish more people did.

In this case, however, the Dover result did not tell anyone what they could think or not think. It determined what was acceptable to teach in a state school under the US constitution and what was not acceptable to teach.
