Would you run?

Imagine this happening to you. *
One Sunday morning during service, a 2,000 member congregation was surprised to see two men enter, both covered from head to toe in black and carrying submachine guns. One of the men proclaimed,” Anyone willing to take a bullet for Christ remain where you are."

*

Immediately, the choir fled, the deacons fled, and most of the congregation fled. Out of the 2,000 there only remained around 20.

*

The man who had spoken took off his hood, looked at the preacher and said "Okay Pastor, I got rid of all the hypocrites. Now you may begin your service. Have a nice day!" And the two men turned and walked out.

*

Too deep not to pass on...

*

Funny how simple it is for people to trash God ... and then wonder why the! World is in the condition it is today..

*

Funny how we believe what the newspapers say, but question
what the Bible says.

*

Funny how everyone wants to go to heaven provided they do not have to believe, think, say, or do anything the Bible says.

*

Funny or is it scary?

*

Funny how someone can say, "I believe in God" but still follow Satan
(who, by the way, also "believes” in God).

*

Funny how you can send a thousand 'jokes' through e-mail and they spread like wildfire, but when you start sending messages regarding the Lord, people think twice about sharing.

*

Funny how the lewd, crude, vulgar and obscene pass freely through cyber space, but the public discussion of Jesus is suppressed in the school and work place. * !

Funny, isn't it? Funny how someone can be so fired up for Christ on Sunday, but be an invisible Christian the rest of the week.

*

Are you laughing?

*

Funny how when you go to forward this message, you will not send it to many on your address list because you're not sure what they believe, or what they will think of you for sending it to them.

*

Funny how I can be more worried about what other people think of me than what God thinks of me.

*

Are you thinking? Will you share this with people you care about?
Or not?

*

I picked you~

My instructions were to send this to people that I wanted God to bless and I picked you.

Please Send to People you want to Bless, if you want too.

I would run......I am not ready to die yet. But I am not a hypocrite. God gave me the change to survive a heartdisorder, saved my life during two rapes and kept me from committing suicide. I would be betraying God if I stayed......

By the way, do you know the "fright, flight and fight" principal? In such situations most people would be so frightend they would freeze and stay on their spot. Scientifically proven that about 75% would stay where they are....so, scientifically speaking your story isn't correct...

ok first about the running if someone went into church like that, heck yeah i would run, it is false logic to say that becouse somebody says are you willing to take a bullet for Christ means thats what your doing if they shoot you. thats taking a bullet becouse some psycho walked in with a gun and maybe even thinks he is doing the work of God and ignores that whole not killing thing.

second when it comes to not talking about religion in schools or freely among people that is becouse A) when it comes to school this is a secular state and i believe that is best and that allowd religion to bloom more here(which is i think is why are freedom in religion gives us the most religious first world country) B) when it comes to freely talking about religon in public some people believe that religion is a very private matter and shouldnt be brought up, in fact in polite society there are three things you never bring up in a public discusion politics, religion, and money

You're still young and I can see where you're coming from. But as you get older you begin to realize that there are things worth standing-up for. This is one of them. I shall Not be moved..

Nazi soldiers, believers, who entered a church and threatened the people like that, turning out to be believers themselves.

Willingness to die for the Lord *sounds* like a no-brainer but this situation is deeply compromised. To brand someone as a "pretend Christian" for fleeing for his/her life is to mistake the call to martyrdom with the warped desire of someone else to wantonly kill. That is, you'd have to say that the gunmen, if they were righteous as the story implies, were called to threaten the lives of believers if you believe this is a legitimate test of faith. I'd say without hesitation that those who threaten others are in rank sin and those who flee the disastrous results of the sins of others are prudent and wise.

So, the gun-toters calling those who left in fear "hypocrites" is the pot calling the kettle black.

But let's not just entertain the story, let's get real. Cassie Burnell was a believer who really did "take a bullet for Jesus" at Columbine High School immediately after declaring her faith. Other believers fled. Were they in sin? Boy, that's an uphill argument. Now, what if she had fled? Would she be in sin? If she died for her faith (and may we all have last words of faith), for what did the unbelievers who were killed die?

So, my answer is that I would likely leave unless the Lord impressed on me to stay and I would be sinning if I stayed just because my machismo or pride (masquerading as faith) was offended by the idiots with the guns. I would then call the police who would send in a SWAT team to encourage the scary guys to disarm or take the jerks out. Live by the submachine gun, die by the submachine gun. If they did disarm, they could explain at the police station that they were just kidding and called by God to test the faith of the people in the church. That would prompt the appropriate tests for their mental state(s).

To come up with situational judgment that condemns cowardice in people when fear is a normal, God-given reaction is to play God, and a really mean God at that.

You are among the few.. Keep up the good work..

I find it rather arrogant to think that only true believers stay.....and that 'hypocrites' leave. The life given by God is to precious.

A man was drowning and another guy put out his hand to save him. "No, I trust God to save me." the drowning man said. The next helper was a boat and they gave him the change to be saved by a life guard and again he refused. "God will safe me!" he said again. The third attempt was done by helicopter and again the man refused to be saved by those who offered him a hand. Again he said: "I will trust God to safe me." The man drowned. So, when he died he came before God and he said: "God, you failed me. I trusted you to safe me, but you didn't!". God replied; "I offered you a helping hand three times and all these three times you refused."

Maybe this voice inside you said: "Run!" What if it is God's way to tell you that you need to run?

If you are a true believer, you trust that God will do anything to safe your life, untill it is time for you to step out, because your task on earth is done. How arrogant can you be to assume that running is the wrong thing to do?

Our scientific mind and accomplishments are given by God. Why assume again that it is not something God gave us? Arrogant, don't ya think?

Belladonic.

PS: I don't know if you are an arrogant person, cause I don't know you. I am only talking about what I read on the screen so I don't want to insult or hurt you as a person in anyway....please forgive me if I did.....

Point well taken. I don't limit God to any thing I can think of.

If that time did come and God told me to run, I'd run..
