carmi said:But I would like to know why it is more immoral for a woman than for a man. The way you wrote one might think it is okay for man to marry a non-christian. This is what you wrote:
"It is immoral, and much more immoral for a woman to engage in this sin. they should learn how to choose a good christian husband, not being held ransom over their hormones for some smooth talking non christian who will probably leave them for welfare taxes to bring up the children."
ianl said:Yes it is immoral for both. I was really talking about realistic morals, not backed up by scripture unfortunately. Men who are not christians are more likely to get divorced, and there may be children involved. If there are children involved then the men are more likely to cheat than the women. Thus women should save themselves so that their children can have a good christian father. Women are much more valuable in reproductive terms.
fishstix said:Shouldn't men also save themselves equally as much so that their children can have a good Christian mother? Both male and female are equally necessary in reproductive terms.

How do you figure? A female can't reproduce without a male. And a male can't reproduce without a female. You need one of each in order to have reproduction take place. If either one is missing - male or female - there will be no reproduction. So both are equally necessary for reproduction.ianl said:Incorrect and you know it.

In a way I agree (or recognize truth) with the comment saying that it is more so wrong for a Woman to do such things than it is for a man. Not that I personally agree with it or see scripture teaching this directly, especially in the NT, but culturally this is quite correct.
To illustrate the point, recall the story of the Woman that was brought before Jesus because she was caught in adultery? Where was the man she was doing this with? He was not also brought before Jesus. Why so? Because culturally it was not as bad for a man to do such things as it was for a woman (depending on the case).
I can get into reasoning regarding their views on this but this would be a discussion in itself. Generally though, in most cultures, women are generally held to a higher standard of conduct when it comes to sexuality.
But now in the eyes of God, we are all equally held to the higher standard. Be it for marriage, dating or any type of relationship of such manner (regarding the main question of the thread), we are required not to pursue such relationships out side of our Christian faith. Becoming a Christian after making a commitment to marriage is one thing, but pursuing a relationship as a Christian with a non-Christian is quite another thing (wrong thing) and this is very clear in scripture.

Everyone has their own beliefs. We will all be judged before God one day. God bless and may you continue to seek God's wisdom. I love you in Jesus's name.
