Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Veritas, i used to feel like that here too...then i realised that this isn't like real life...we don't appreciate the hurt that we cause one another with our insensitivity, our hurtful comments, the tendency we have to not respond to others sometimes etc,...

...i really like reading your posts, sometime's i don't respond to them because they seem to go way above my head (i'm not an academic, just a simple soul), but i still like to read them. Is that one of the reasons, not because of me personally, but because of a lack of response, or am i way off base?

Please tell us why you feel this way, i hate that you feel this way.

Veritas, you are such an excellent poster that much of what you write leaves people affirming what you say without really anything to add. You started a great thread in the past coupla days. You bless us always.

I joined in on the "Let's get to know each other" thread and found it very rewarding to just relax and 'get to know each other'. At first, I thought it was a silly thread but now I'm glad I posted.

Thanks for your responses and concern. I was just feeling very misunderstood and a little beat up in a certain situation. It made me wonder what I'm here for and why I should stay. Could have been a bit of PMS thrown in there too! Anyway, I think we all get too sensitive and assume the worst at times. The biggest problem with the internet is that you can't see facial expressions and a tone of voice. We can use the smilies and icons but they don't necessarily convey the whole picture. So when I'm trying to be funny, I end up being mistaken for mean. Go figure.

Blessings all around

Another reason I'm glad I'm a guy!!!!

Right on. Thats a huge problem with written communication. Unless you really know the writer, the words can be completely misunderstood. If someone reading is in a bad mood, its more likely that they could read the words and get defensive, even if there was no intended threat. Thats why I'm always careful when I write emails to my boss

Veritas if it is any consolation I really have no idea why I continue to come back to this board myself. I feel totally outcasted lately, because I share a few different views than some here.

I think maybe we all go through this stuff sometimes. That is why I haven't left even though I have felt like it. I am sticking it out because I know I am not a bad person and I hope that people will see that.

I understand totally. I have a really warped sense of humor at times and I absolutely know I am taken wrong. But, gosh, it just makes it all the funnier later looking back at how silly everything was.

Please know that I appreciate you! I loved the get to know you thread because I was able to joke about my eating addiction! But what the hey, I enjoy every morsel I eat (and I'm sure there's alot out there that would be good if I could get my fork on it!)

Love in Christ,
Donna

I know the feeling as well. It really concerns me the way that some people on this forum, react to posts. Case in point, I started a thread of encouragement. Quickly turned into an arguement, I kept trying to bring it back to an encouraging word. Finally it digressed so far that the thread was shut down (for other reasons) Every time I decide to leave, I read a post from someone wanting to discuss, not argue, someone looking for the truth no matter the cost, someone who is hurting and needs an encouraging word and so I force back my own feelings and emotions and plunge in. I see a day coming when I will leave for good, simply too tired to keep up with all of this but for now, I focus on learning from the people I interact with and pray that God uses my words and deeds for His Glory and try to rest in His powerful, loving arms.

I do not think I will ever see myself as having worth but I shall never allow that to prevent me from Loving others or speaking the truth in Love when it is necessary. Many here at CF show no love and lack all mercy. Others, love with a pure love and try to show kindness. We must pray for those without love and mercy and remember to commend those who show that love and mercy.

Thanks for all your kind words of encouragement and various hugs and kisses. I guess it's kinda like a cyberfamily. Everybody gets on everybody's nerves now and again. It's ok as long as we kiss and make up. I truly appreciate you all and think of you and pray for you often. Taking a mini break definitely helped. Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to take the clothes out of the washer and put them in the dryer Woman's work is never done....until we get to heaven (I hope!)
