Worst Part about being Catholic

I'd have to say it is waiting to go to confession after you know you've committed a mortal sin. The feelings that I get of being out of God's grace is terrible, and to know that you eternal destination is hell until Saturday confession is not a pleasing thought.

Other than that It is great being Catholic!

every person who sins should feel broken off from God.. not just Catholics :0

But some other churches don't have a formal sacramental confession process. I just wish that The Sacrament of Reconcilliation was more accessible, thats all.

:o No possibility of confession before Saturday, if it's mortal??? I confess my venial ones on given time - but with a mortal, I believe I'ld have asked for help immediately!
I mean, if You commit a mortal sin on Monday - do You have to wait for confession until Saturday?!?

If you have the full-intent to make it to confession and you die before you can, God would more than likely be merciful for this.

Also though, most people do not have an excuse. A person can make an appointment with a priest anytime to have confession.

I hate confession. Not so much the sacrament itself but the thought and embarrassment of priest recognizing my voice. I always go somewhere where no one knows me.
I know this is irrational but is just something Ihave to work on.

I have been known to take the train downtown and go to a church near the train station. I have to get over this - train fare is almost $9.

Now that the associate pastor has been reassigned to the cathedral, it takes over a week to get in to see my priest because he's so busy.

Not being able to receive the sacraments.
...I only truly found the catholic faith after marrying outside the catholic church, my wife was divorced from a catholic brother... and 2 catholic children from both marriages were conceived by my wife... so no cancelation is possible... neverless GOD talks to me via the daily scriptures.

But what is more sad for me is when I see people go to mass and leave once they have received the BODY OF CHRIST(before mass is finish)... you don't know how sad that makes me when i see that happening...

Brothers and sisters please don't be shaken by my situation... Jesus, I TRUST YOU.

never say never. Have you even tried to get her marriage annuled? The fact that she has children shouldn't even be an issue at all. It isn't for me.

I hate forgetting the times of confessions....
And then having to scramble to find a Church.

I feel the humility of confessing is gr8 for the soul....but I will go to any priest available.

WE have Thurs night confessions here as well as Saturday. Thank goodness..........cos I need it.

Ok I just have to say something here...

Unless you killed someone and aren't sorry for it, I really don't think God is going to send you to hell for all eternity if you died before you get to confession. First of all, you go to confession for absolution, but all you have to say is "sorry Lord" for Him to forgive you. Say an act of contrition as well.

Second, it's all about what's in your heart when you committed the sin. If you didn't intend to hurt anybody or cause anyone harm, chances are it isn't a mortal sin. Call me a liberal, but I think some people are a little too harsh when it comes to this stuff. If you get into heaven, it's because God loves you, not because you've earned it.

This is not necessarily true. First of all, if there's no confession time till Saturday, that diminishes your access to the Sacrament, which I know God takes into consideration. Also, you can apologize to God in prayer even before you can get to confession, and I know that He takes that into consideration as well. Furthermore, if this is sin(s) that you have a history with, and that you struggle with on a regular basis, your culpability is reduced. All things considered, you shouldn't live in fear, as long as you strive daily. Try to relax. Catholicism is all about practicality and spiritual sanity. Contemplate that, and let God give you peace.

I'd have to say that the hardest part of Catholicism, for me, is living the Catholic faith. There are some things, that are required of me as a Catholic, that just make me want to say, "Why? Why do I have to do this?" There are struggles in my heart between what I feel is logical, what I think would be right, and what is spiritual, what the Church teaches is right. Then there is having to explain my Catholicity to others, having to explain why we do what we do. It's especially hard with my parents, since they opposed my conversion. All this stuff weighs really heavily on me.

At the same time, I would say the easiest part of Catholicism, in my opinion, is also living the faith. There are things that I really don't want to do, or that I don't think will benefit me, but in the long run, they do. And when I have ashes on my forehead and abstain from meat on Ash Wednesday, I have a chance to convey a part of something that is a special, all-encompassing thing for me. It gives me hope in times when I just want to lay down and die.

It's a contradiction, definitely, but I can accept that. Jesus said you have to die to live, you have to give up your life for your brother, but that His burden is light. I don't understand it, but it works for me.
