Yes your right, I do take that on board. I mean when I was younger, I was a victim of my anger and self righteousness, and it was only when I took time to examine what was happening in my own heart and how much my resolve to put things right was driving me on, that I began to see how much unrest I had with in myself. My inner life, I realised was a microcosm of the world, being fuelled by anger and self righteousness.

Yes, we know how passionate Pope John Paul is about this. In fact, if he could have been your dream-Pope, he would have fulfilled your dream. But neither he nor any Pope of the future can change the Natural Law.

I know Our Lord's words very well. Never does He indicate that He will change the Natural Law. He is its Creator.

My point is that he knows the Natural Law better than we do. As you mention,
he created it. He can either change it, or he can explain it in ways we don't
understand it. It is folly for us to assume that he won't do either.

He can "change it" by Divine Positive Injunction which supersedes the Natural Law. But that isn't indicated in the SS which speak of the wars and rumors of war which foreshadow his final coming after the Battle of Armegeddon.

Just so I can understand what you are advocating. You want me to believe that if a murderer breaks into my home and begins to attack me and my family that I should not take any action to defend the lives of my loved ones?

a knife in his throat, or breaking his skull with a bat. I advocate distracting
your enemy while your family flees to safety. I advocate sacrificing your flesh
to save a deranged man's soul, before sacrificing a deranged man's soul to
save your flesh.

Which is more important?

1) Delaying your families entrance into heaven by sending a murderer to hell?
2) Saving a murderer's soul by dying for him, and going to heaven early?

Why are Christians so afraid to go to heaven?
Why are Christians so afraid to let their family go to heaven?
Why are Christians so afraid to die to save their murderers, when Christ did the same?

First, I am not talking about murdering. I am talking about using force as a last resort to defend your household. You are against violence in any form, but I am telling you that you are being unrealistic.

What you said is fine in theory, but unfortunately, sometimes force must be used as a last resort if all other means at stopping the enemy are depleted. This is especially is especially true for the the role of governments, and the Church makes it clear that we have the right to defend the sactity of life.

*Whether or not this particular war is justified or not is for another thread.

You presume that the souls of your family are already saved, but this is not what the Church teaches. If you truly value the sanctity of life and the salvation of souls, you would not sacrifice your family to keep the attacker alive. You would fight to keep your family alive and take every possible means to keep the attacker alive as well, but if a lethal blow must be given in the end, the Church explcitey states that it could be justified.
