  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

So, I thought that id make a workout/ exercise thread.

I use to workout religiously about a year n half ago. Then, I took few weeks off from working out and that turned into 18 months. I went from a moving all the time job, to a job where I sit at a computer all day. So, lack of working out and a sedentary job has contributed to me feeling:

1. Less Energy.
2. Increase in my Waistline.
3. just feeling physically weak.

Now, by all standards im still probably considered in "Good Shape" from visual standards. But, as you guys know working out is not just about the visual. I wanna start working out again because it does give me more energy and makes me feel physically stronger.

So, I decided im gonna start working out again.

I thought it would be nice to have a thread dedicated to workouts, motivation, what works, what dosnt work, what our goals are and sharing the achievements of our dedication.

So, over the past week I have been walking/ jogging on my treadmill. iv done it 3 days a week for about 15 mins a day.

My plan is to workout 3 days a week. Wednesday, Friday or Saturday and sunday.

Im off today, so I think ill be doing some walking/ jogging today.

Anyways, share your stories and comments and whatever

Hi there

Work out wise typically on weekly basis.

Iam down at boxing a couple of times a week then do my running other couple of times a week.If work allows me to.

Then iam down at the Golf (does that count.).On the weekend.

I have always been a active person even though it is tricky with work and other stuff going on.

Best of Luck with your program when I started running again after dislocating my left knee it took a long time to build my pace back up.

My goal is just to keep up a decent level of fitness.

Why not try something like StrongLifts 5x5 or Wendler's 5/3/1? They're SO fun, and the strength gains are ridiculous.

PHAT training is pretty decent if you're particularly interested in increasing muscle, but I personally stick to strength training these days, because I find a lot of the hypertrophy stuff boring. I also like to prioritise strength, because muscle gain tends to happen with training consistency anyway. Well, at least for me.

I used to run 4 miles 3 days a week with a long run (8-10 miles) each Saturday. Then I got sick (just a cold) and lost motivation. Still ran pretty well at a 1/2 marathon.

I signed up again hoping the motivation of doing so would get me running again, but I hurt my knee from running and stopped.

I'm trying to get back into it, but so far have not felt the motivation at all.

This is why I am trying to quit smoking again..... well most of the reason. I miss working out. (Im almost done with day 3 of my quitting plan)

I miss it but I don't think Im going to jump straight into it again.

Think Im going to search around for foods I like that wont pack on pounds. At least not the bad kind.

Start eating better first.

Then after my lungs have healed and hacked up the nasty.... then I will be hack free to lift, run...... all that fun stuff.

I had a plan last time, but cigarettes sucked me back in.... I procrastinate and get lazy as a smoker. Im just the opposite as a non smoker.

I need to get back into working out. I will for a day then sit on my duff for a month. Not good. But it is getting cooler so if I can go hiking on the weekends, two days of working out during the week will suffice.

Maybe I should see how quickly I could do a mile right now. I can get up and walk two miles in forty minutes no problem, so aiming for 16 minutes doesn't sound impossible. Hmmm. (It does, however, sound awful compared to the days when I did 5ks in 35-ish minutes. Then again, that was a long time ago and 80 pounds less.)

I need to figure out a routine I guess. It's harder now that I'm working (and family stuff going on) and don't always have a consistent schedule. The days I do work I'm too tired to work out, and the days I have off I just want to be lazy sometimes.
So I'm gonna think about it some more and try to figure out a plan/goal that will work.
I've gone over 170 miles walking or bike riding this year, however this past month since I've started working I've gone almost no miles. I want to start walking more, and once the weather cools down maybe even hiking more.

I never really worked out on my own much. I tried a few months ago to at least get into a stretching routine, and it lasted a few weeks before I lost my motivation.

That being said, my legs looked AMAZING after just the first week of that, and I kind of miss that.

I'm actually getting a book and dvd in the mail in a few days about basic Shaolin kung-fu workouts. At one point in my life I did take karate, and I loved it, but my anxiety forced me to stop the classes. I'm still interested in martial arts, but I lack the funds or the time to attend a class, so I am really excited for this.

I think one of the thing that has always been a challenge for me to get back into working-out is that I try to get back into it 100% on first day. So my workout will get hr and half long and then I wont have the same motivation to do it again the next day.

I think this time, im taking it slow. I only working out 3 days a week and only 15 to 20 mins each day. I stretch well before a workout and then walk/jog. Its easy to do on a regular bases cause I know I dont have to spend hr working out.

Im also lazy on off days. But, iv decided that 2 of my workout days will be my off days. And even on my off days I work out early in the day. That way 15 mins and its out of the way and then I can be lazy for the rest of the day

I've said it a couple times that I liked to start running but I've been saying that for 2 months now and I never started. It's hard for me to find a right way to start, (how to, how long, etc.) I can't just start running of the bat because I need some bright guidelines but I have not seen any good guides yet. Time is a second problem because I do not have much time till March so I'm constantly delaying it too.
