  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

[BIBLE]Matthew 7:15[/BIBLE]

How are we to respond to people like this? Have been thinking about it and have been praying about it all day, but I can't get beyond my own anger at the manipulation and mask being worn.

What are we called to do when we recognize a wolf? Pray for them? Rebuke them? What do we do?

Confrontation

Christianity has compromised itself into an apostate mess. Imho we cannot afford to give up ground without a fight, otherwise we are overcome with a flood.

Titus 1

9 Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.

10 For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision:
11Whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre's sake.
12 One of themselves, even a prophet of their own, said, the Cretians are alway liars, evil beasts, slow bellies.
13 This witness is true. Wherefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith;
14 Not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men, that turn from the truth.
15 Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled. 16 They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.

The imagery used is that of a flock of sheep, which wolves are infiltrating.

In that image, you should alert the shephard to the presense of the wolf... the shephard should then either kill the wolf, or chase it off.

(and I am speaking in terms of the image.. I don't advocate people actually killing false prophets )

Both, I would add to that the pastor/elder of the local congregation as well.

They all function as shephards.. and I think you go up the chain. Go to the local elder, he should then take up the issue.. if he doesn't then go to the bishop, or whatever authority your denomination has over pastors.

The scriptural standard on dealing with a problem between people in the church is that you first go to the person, then you go to the preson with a witness.. then you go to the elders etc.

I think that a similar idea works with false prophets/teachers. This is, of course, assuming that they are in your local congregation.

I appreciate these questions & all the good input.
If you do recognize them, how many others will not & how many will back them up? Allot of people would rather question those who stand for good rather than those who seem good? Not saying to back down, but might be a tough situation? Keep praying for sure.

I believe in arming the flock with swords. A wolf or even a pack of 4-5 stand no chance against 100 sheep with swords

We learn the word then, discern according to the word, weighing even the unpleasant, and then stand together against it, back to back as a flock, giving the word itself and standing on it unmovably, is some mighty sword slinging

I think some people are deceived so badly, they don't even know they are wolves.

Prayer is imperative!

I agree and that's where I am having my most battles with. I am afraid of "wolves" more than I am afraid of the "known enemies". I can deal what I know but its harder to deal with the wolves who act like "wildlife terrorists" that comes in without us knowing.

Amen. It's crucial that we know the scriptures (actually, I'm thinking that this is one of only a couple of 4U forums that actively reads and searches out the scriptures - most Christians don't ) so that we can discern the wolf's message from Jesus' message. An alert believer has no business entertaining a wolf's message. And JimfromOhio - you know scriptures better than most - don't fear that you'll fall for the wolf!

my opinion is, i think we have to love them as we love ourselves. sure one can debate, "correct", "rebuke" but if one can't even obey the simplest of commandments all that stuff is done in vain.

Naw, dude, am not asking whether we need to love them We need to love everyone.

Was more curious about what we're called to actually *do*. Loving people isn't something we need to choose to do - that needs to be our default setting
