  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I know that eventually hell is going to be cast into the lake of fire... so they are not the same.
Some have thought that the lake of fire leads to the ultimate destruction of a thing.

Hi everybody,

Well, what's often translated "Hell" in the NT is actually "Hades" in Greek, the same as "Sheol" in the OT. It is a dark place that you certainly wouldn't want to be, but it's not "hell" in the common usage. Look at Luke 16, parable of the rich man and Lazarus, to see the unrighteous in Hades.

i would say that "hell" really only applies to the Lake of Fire, where those who reject the Lord will spend eternity. i think wherever Jesus talked about Gehenna He was referring to the Lake.

So yeah, they are different. As far as annihilation in the Lake, i don't think so, look at Rev. 20:10 and tell me what you think.

i hope this helps.

May the Lord guide you into all Truth! Maran atha!

In His Light,
Apollonarius
