  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I'm talking about the enemy...
We don't wrestle flesh and blood,...

What do you have that turns back the enemy if not Scripture?

Jesus Christ.
what about Him?

Having Jesus IS warfare?
That's not scriptural.
If only it were that easy.
The opposite is true.

The more you see Christ IN me,
the more the attacks come...

But the Lord did give us weapons of warfare.
One is the sword of the Spirit, the Word of God.
That's the one I am speaking of..

I take it you don't use "it is written"?

That is in fact a better take on things given that we hear that the Word of God was made flesh.

Jesus didn't exist in a book.

He taught and gave witness to the Father through himself as God and Man amongst us.
Well thank GOD for giving us the book too,
because I wasn't there and so Scripture
has been the avenue God's used to teach
me about Himself.

Thank you JESUS!

2 Corinthians 3: You show that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.

I'm not sure what you mean by the remainder of the post, but I am sure that Christ is indeed stronger than any demon.

Since the latter is a given, I will adress the beginning statement.

Maybe this will clear it up.

The closer one gets to God, the more the enemy is going
to want to stop him or her. He isn't threatened by those
who aren't about the Father's business, make sense?

Such as here...:
17 But, brothers and sisters, when we were orphaned by being separated
from you for a short time (in person, not in thought), out of our intense
longing we made every effort to see you. 18 For we wanted to come to
you—certainly I, Paul, did, again and again—but Satan blocked our way.
19 Indeed, you are our glory and joy. For what is our hope, our joy, or
the crown in which we will glory in the presence of our Lord Jesus when he
comes? Is it not you?

When the enemy comes, we are either going to fight or we are going to
get stopped from our mission.
As you said, Jesus is stronger yet Paul says "satan blocked us"....
Sup with that?

God has always been stronger.. and yet the enemy has often stolen
from, destroyed, and killed.. God's very elect!

Jesus warned us about it. He said that the theif comes not BUT to kill
steal and destroy.
Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil.

But you need to KNOW the truth.. and USE the weapons He's given us.

I'm sure....

What I'm not following is how that provides a rule for the evaluating the correctness of the various doctrines among Christians today?

Ahh, theres that outstanding logic again!
If you actually had a point to make, I'm sure you would have said it.

It's a fact I stated. That under oppression we survived. It directly relates to your point about the devil attacking that closer to God.

Well then you're wrong.

[quote[It's a fact I stated. That under oppression we survived. It directly relates to your point about the devil attacking that closer to God.[/quote]

It may or may not relate to what I said.

If Scripture alone turns back the enemy, why was the pride of those Pharisees (that Christ corrected) not turned back when they used Scripture ?

I'd testify to the scripture alone.

They were turned back, as the devil was after the first 3 tries, but Jesus submitted unto death.
