ok maybhe i went around thisd the wrong way ..
IM not going to go out and sin becasue i can
The question is simply this ..
How can i explain to a new or non christian why us christians try REALLY hard not to sin, when they understand that we can simly repent on out death bed and go to heaven.
Do you feel you ever get your question answered? The way I see what you are asking is the same way I would view "why should I obey my parents." i should obey my parents because i know they want what is best for me (assuming i have good parents). the reason God wants us continually in the word and around other Christians, and a huge reason why I think Paul was chosen by God to be the human being at the forefront of our faith outside of Jesus, was to teach us what we are supposed to be like: All things to all men. A friend. A brother. A parent. Whatever it is that they need. This allows us to see right past the questions they are asking to the true point: there is something I enjoy that I know is sin, but I don't want to give it up.
In total honesty, there is no "truth" to the question you are asking. Why? Because the answer is going to be different for everyone who asks that question. I shouldn't break the law because I shouldn't break the law. So why do I do it? The truth is I break the law or I sin because it is something that either A) dominates me, or B) I enjoy it." Paul put it another, and even better way in Romans 7:14-25. To deal with his own corruption as a growing believer early on he separated himself from his flesh. This served to show that he has the good in him, but it is still waging war with the corruption left behind. This does not discount you from the choices to give in to sin, but it can be used to show where your loyalties truly lie.
Now, this is all very in-depth for a new Christian. They either won't get it, or will misinterpret it. But this is an understanding they need to get to through discipleship. How you need to handle it is just being available to talk. Ask what is so improtant about sin that they feel they might need to keep some of it. Ask them if they knew the judge wouldn't punish them, would it still be right for them to kill an innocent family they never met? Extremes have easy answers, but they also paint clearer pictures. Our own mind and hearts rationalize our actions, but Jesus says corruption of the heart is more deadly than corruption of the flesh (spiritual sinning is greater than physical sinning). You can pluck out your eye or cut off your hand, but you cannot do anything to repair your spirit. Only God can.
Sorry for being so long winded, but whether you realize it or not, what you have asked is a very complex question. I'ts not the kind of thing you answer with an "because I said so." even though that is what it all boils down to with God. You shouldn't do that because he said not to. You might also tell some stories of people who's hearts God hardened. He even says seek me while I may be found, which hints that you don't have an unlimited window of opportunity. At some point you have to make a decision, and you can't get to New York if you are heading towards Los Angeles...
