Exactly that's what I'm saying, there are none
And I don't agree, lots of writers just come up with stuff that has no basis.No-one has said that the article is a theory. The article just says that the word theory is a word that is used incorrectly.
If you don't understand that simple thing, I question your reading comprehension.
Give me a example of a science article misuse the word?Except there are. Many people do use the words that are shown in the article, and in this thread and the thread I had, especially the word theory. They are misused words, because their context and definition changes depending on circumstance. Theory is definitely one of them.
And I don't agree, lots of writers just come up with stuff that has no bases.
Give me a example of a science article misuse the word?
If it's true there must be examples in science papers.Nonsensical claim.
Theory isn't a science word
Yes I deleted the post thank youActually, the earliest uses of the world theory used to mean 'the languages and principles governing a subject or discipline' and it's historical usage was heavily in the historical sciences during the 1600s. So it IS a science word.
Irrespective of that, theory is a word that when used in the context of the sciences, it has a different meaning and definition than in the simple layman's definition and meaning of the word. That is a fact.
Now show me where someone misused the word in a science paper.
That was just 1 of the 7 so called misused words. But it's not the issue of the word being misused in a science paper! THAT'S NOT THE ISSUE!
It's about people who think they're being smart by saying something is 'just a theory' when a theory is the highest (sort of) element of science. That's the crux of the argument of the OP's post and what I tried to say in my own thread.
Pay attention, man.
That was just 1 of the 7 so called misused words.
Pay attention, man.
This below is in the article which is nonsenseNo, you need to pay attention.
The article isn't talking about the words being misused in scientific papers. It's about scientific words being misused by laymen in an attempt to talk about sciences.
In science, a theory is not the same as a hypothesis, but to a laymen, they mean the same thing so it is misused.
This below is in the article which is nonsense
"What's more, the human brain may not have evolved to intuitively understand key scientific concepts such as hypotheses or theories,"
A hike is a healthy strengthening activity. Id recommend it to anyone.
Not if it's a long one on a short pier.
That was from the article, and what the article thinks is why people misuse 7 words like the word theory. It's stunning that you decided to respond with something completely off topic to what I said. Very telling.
That was from the article, and what the article thinks is why people misuse 7 words like the word theory.
Ok got any statements that the word was misused. Or is it something only witnessed in person? And?
Again:
The article isn't talking about the words being misused in scientific papers. It's about scientific words being misused by laymen in an attempt to talk about sciences.
In science, a theory is not the same as a hypothesis, but to a laymen, they mean the same thing so it is misused.

The theory of music, is that misused?
