Dear TalkToMuch. I grew up in a Country where Religion was not encouraged. As I grew older, I realised something was missing in my life. I was lucky and Jesus found me. Proudly I started to wear a Cross, to let everybody see whom I loved, and what I stood for. Soon I found however, many other women wear crosses too, and to quite a number of them, it was simply an ornament, to be worn when it suited them. Then I remembered the Salvation Army, but I always thought they wore their uniforms, to let people know that they would help with drink-problems. I went to one or two of their meetings, and soon realised they were really Soldiers for Christ, figting under the Blood of Jesus and the Fire of the Holy Spirit. Here was my chance. In time I joined the Army, became a Salvationist, and proudly wore my uniform. I habe been fighting for Jesus, against the devil and his offspring, ( Alcohol) for many years now. Lately I retired, because the Army-Hall was too far removed. I still belong to the Army, wear a pretty large cross, and am a member of the Church of England. My Christian brothers and sisters know, the cross I wear every day, is not ornament, but for me the banner of my Lord. I say this humbly and with love, TalkToMe. Greetings from Emmy, your sister in Christ.

In the story of the separation of the sheep and the goats, Jesus said to one side, "I was hungry and you fed me. I was in prison and you visited me etc..."

I was in a major Pentecostal Denomination for most of my adult life. I went to their Bible College, became ordained and pioneered and pastored North American Indian Churches.
Doing the above was not encouraged as it was percieved to represent the 'social gospel.'

After long deliberation I decided to go to and eventually enrolled as a soldier of the Salvation Army.

My wife and I are very happy and spend most of the week at our emergency food bank and looking after the homeless in our community.

My grandmother was a soldier. There was a lot of abuse/chaos in my home when I was little, so she took me there as a place of refuge. After she was promoted to glory (holler salvationists), that infamous 15-pass kept picking me up. It spared me a lot of violence, and gave me a camp that was a safe haven. Now, years later, the Lord has called me to continue this shelter and safety as a youth leader for the girls of my corps going through the same thing.

So. To sum it all up: The Lord wanted me there.

Thanks! Its been hard but im getting used to it!

If your father is whom I think he is (G.D.), I knew him and his parents many years ago, and he is a strong Godly man. Always listen to your father, for he follows My Father. Even when you do not agree with your parents, they have the best interest for you
