The bible says we must believe in Jesus to be forgiven and put are sinful ways to death. That dosen't mean to be perfect but to at least try and stop sinning put some effort in it.How can you be forgiven if your not sorry about sinning and you just go back to sinning the next day with not putting no effort in to not sinning?God Bless

Romans 6:1"Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase?By no means! We died to sin, how can we live in it any longer"

Romans 10:9"That if you confess with your mouth Jesus is lord and Believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead you will be saved.

John 3:16"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that Whoever Believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him."

*I hate how people even bother to have morals and try not to sin, if Jesus died for ALL our sins what's the point of even attempting to be pure? We could do whatever we want and then simply beg and grovel for his forgiveness and BAM instant Go To Heaven pass.

It is interesting to note you are a Muslim, correct?
Is it ok for Muslims to sin?
Your question should be more like " I hate how Christians even bother....." is that right? Is that what you really are asking because I find it difficult to understand how you call yourself a Muslim if it is not.

Do you think that God is not all-knowing?
He certainly knows what is in our hearts and minds, so I am sure he can discern our sincerity of repentence.

It's better to prevent then to heal wounds.

What you therefore say isn't true ,for if you swing the pendulum into the wrong direction you build up bad karma and then you have to swing the pendulum back into the right direction again, which causes tremendous suffering, pain, time and effort. You have to make up to everyone you once did wrong to. God knows your heart, if you don't mean it if you don't show a loving willingness it might be very questionable wether you actually receive forgiveness or not..

Lets say there is no heaven, no hell, no chance of punishment, no chance of reward, what would your heart, mind and soul choose to live for, a good and virtuous life, a life that anything goes, I fear to think how much worse the world would be without God's revelation of rewards and punishments, heaven and hell. God, being all powerful, is completely free, nobody can overpower him, he didn't have to be a good God, he could have been a self-seeking, pleasure-filled, power hungry dictator, only looking after his own self-interest. Why did this all powerful being, being free, choose to be a God of love and Virtue. Apparently, Vice, immorality, impurity could not interest a being who is Love. God calls you and I to love!

do you not sin?
I mean, no one is perfect, as a christian we are called to strive to be perfect, only one person that ever walked on this earth has ever lived without sin. As a Christain you are still human, and humans do in fact sin, whether it be stealing a pen, or killing a person, a comandment is a comandment, a sin is a sin. And we are comanded not to do them. They are all the same in Gods eyes

If a person says they love Jesus, and don't try to act in the way that he taught, then they really don't love him. When you love someone you do what they say or at least try to. God gave us the 10 commandments to follow. If I don't follow them, then my actions are telling him that I don't care what he says, I'm gonna go do life MY way. I don't want to live like that. I want God to know by my actions, and others also that I come into contact with during the day, that I am a follower of Gods will.

Not true at all. You see, that's not true faith, but presumption. God calls us all to be holy people, to flee from sin, and live a righteous life.

Jesus didn't die to give us an excuse to live in sin, but to save us from our sins.

if your mother was killed by a serial killer, this is your attitude? he's good and forgiven, let him kill all he wants? Your kid is raped and tortured by a sexual predator, oh well, he's forgiven.

God knows sin hurts us, He only wants what is best, right and good.

Once you are saved the Lord gives you a brand new heart. It is no longer you that lives, now it is Christ that lives within you. Being saved you now have the desire to live a righteous life, one that is pleasing and approved by Jesus Christ. It's not that I am
attempting to be pure
I'm human I can't possibly. Our first enemy is our carnal nature and the second enemy is satan. But with Christ living within us we can gradually overcome ourselves and satan.
It's like your thoughts and actions, your words, your mind and body follow your spirit, the holy spirit.
But if your attitude is one of disobedience to the laws of God and we turn away from God and live a life of sin and as you say "do whatever we want" then we are saying to God I don't want your salvation. God does not take our salvation away from us. He gave us free will. We give up our salvation. If you could not give up your salvation voluntarily then once you become saved you could then go ahead and do what ever you want. You can't walk in the darkness unrepentant and still hold onto your salvation. It doesn't work that way. God allows your eternal future to be in your own hands !

1 Pet 3:18
18 For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive by the Spirit,
(NIV)

Eph 2:8-9
8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-- and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God--
9 not by works, so that no one can boast.
(NIV)

Heb 12:5-8
5 And you have forgotten that word of encouragement that addresses you as sons: "My son, do not make light of the Lord's discipline, and do not lose heart when he rebukes you,
6 because the Lord disciplines those he loves, and he punishes everyone he accepts as a son."
7 Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as sons. For what son is not disciplined by his father?
8 If you are not disciplined (and everyone undergoes discipline), then you are illegitimate children and not true sons.
(NIV)

Why should Christians bother to be pure? True, we won't lose our salvation (Romans 6:23 with Romans 11:29 and John 10:28-29). But we should bother because God is pure and He asks the same of us. If that isn't enough reason for some, another reason is that His loving discipline can get as rough as it takes to get us back on the track.

And that can be pretty rough:
2 Sam 12:7-13 Then Nathan said to David, ".... This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: 'I anointed you king over Israel, and I delivered you from the hand of Saul.
8 I gave your master's house to you, and your master's wives into your arms. I gave you the house of Israel and Judah. And if all this had been too little, I would have given you even more.
9 Why did you despise the word of the LORD by doing what is evil in his eyes? You struck down Uriah the Hittite with the sword and took his wife to be your own. You killed him with the sword of the Ammonites.
10 Now, therefore, the sword will never depart from your house, because you despised me and took the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be your own.'
11 "This is what the LORD says: 'Out of your own household I am going to bring calamity upon you. Before your very eyes I will take your wives and give them to one who is close to you, and he will lie with your wives in broad daylight.
12 You did it in secret, but I will do this thing in broad daylight before all Israel.'"
13 Then David said to Nathan, "I have sinned against the LORD." Nathan replied, "The LORD has taken away your sin. You are not going to die...."

Once we become children of God, we have a desire to please Him. We avoid sin not to keep our tails out of the fire anymore, but because we have an inward desire to be good sons and daughters of God. We know that:

1) We want to be a true example rather than a false witness. We want to be credible when evangelizing. People don't take hypocrites seriously.

2) Earthly consequences of sin still affect us. Sin breaks more than you can imagine. Sin breaks relationships, lives, finances, bodies, you name it. It is wise to avoid sin even though God will forgive you when you ask.

3) Jesus died in our place, taking punishment for all the sins He didn't commit. The more we sin, theoretically the more pain He would have been enduring since it was for past, present, and future sins.

That's all I can add, really. It's been posted before, I'll post it again:

"What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We died to sin; how can we live in it any longer?" - Romans 6:1,2

I think this is probably wrong. Probably the repentance, turning away from your sins is missing. I don't know much but I'm learning some. Jesus keeps saying in the bible.. Go and sin no more. I think it means don't keep doing what you asked forgiveness from.

Exactly. God sees though your heart. If you don't renounce your sin, he's not going to buy your lie that you're sorry for it. Forgiveness is defined in Proverbs 28:13.

"He who conceals his sins does not prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy."

This idea of believing in Jesus as a 'get out of hell' free card has no place in Christianity - neither now or historically. However, with the messages many evangelists give out I understand it is easy to get that impression.

Anyone who delves deeper into Christianity will find that much of it goes against mainstream, institutionalised Christian practice today. This is the same from the time of the prophets, through to Jesus, through the Reformists, and to modernity. They were all heretics of their day - and those who speak of God in our day, will likely sound heretical to the Christian majority.

Hi Arteryman

Who has the right Spirit when it comes to sin? The sinner who sins and is remorseful, who seeks to do they’re best to avoid sin? Or the one who takes pleasure in unrighteousness and uses grace/ Gods forgiveness as a license to commit evil?

If we are in agreement with God that sin is sin then we will do our best to avoid sin and trust in Jesus for our forgiveness when we fall down.

This does not mean we will end up trapped in a state of guilt. We know we are carnal sinners and we know that we are forgiven by God, that gives us the grace to forgive others. But it also gives us the grace to forgive ourselves. It is better to be focused on the love we can give and the good we can do rather than spend all out time focused on our failings.

Philippians 4
8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. 9 The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.

Get to loving others, get to caring for the ones who are suffering. We have Jesus to take care of all our stuff-ups freeing us to love others.
