  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Why believe in that which one has no evidence toward?

Many attempted to forcefully put Christianity down, but failed. In fact, it flourished in the face of adversity. That, in and of itself, could be a "piece" of evidence. And, yes, Christian leaders have been at working debunking heresies for a long time. What's funny to me is that I am able to use 4th century quotes to answer modern day questions. It seems to me that every question has been answered already regardless of how many ways people try to spin the question in a new way. In my brief time in life, I have not heard one original question about Christianity that has not already been answered time and again over the past nearly 2,000 years.

Right...he was spiritual leader and speaking in terms of a spiritual truth, and not proving/disproving a physical reality. What you say here is true, and could be expanded to anything, but when you take an honest look at the "evidence" then you will see the truth.

The only problem with this statement is that, based on your comments so far, you are not sincerely interested in looking at the evidence (personal testamonies, the bible, prophecy turned reality, miracles too numerous to count, everything about Jesus Christ, etc.)...that lack of interest in sincerely looking at the evidence is what I call apathy. Ignoring the evidence, and then saying you've reached a conclusion there is no evidence, is most definitely apathy.

Try to approach the evidence a little different. Instead of assuming God does not exist, assume He does (faith). Try to look at the whole picture instead of looking at each thing individually. It's easy to take a single piece of evidence and write it off as chance, or try to use science to find an alternate explanation.

"There have been many achologecal finds proving the existance of various places, events, people, and etc. mentioned in the bible. Plus the various fufiled prophesies in the bible, and etc. Evidence is all over the place, the question is will you accept it. the only reason folks don't see the evidence is because they simple won't believe it. Bottom line."

Just because a place or person exists, the supernatural claims do not have evidence. I do not believe anyone questions places exist. Let's look at King Kong. New York clearly exists, but have you ever seen a 10 story tall ape? Of course not. As for the prophesies, it is all in the interpritation. Other religions also have prophesies. Nostradamus supposedly predicted WWII would be started by a man named Hiller. I'd say that's just as relevant a prediction as any in the Bible. Also, this topic was asking for specific evidence, so mearly saying it exists will not answer the question.

I think, therefore I'm confused;
I believe, therefore I'm free;
I'm free, therefore I can love.

As Jesus said, "wisdom is justified be her fruits". Note that He didn't say, wisdom is justified by her physical, philosophical, and personal evidences, but by the fruit. I believed because i thought it to be true. Now I know it to be true because He changed my life.
