  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Who Will Harris Pick for VP Running Mate???

If people on the right really think the Obamas are still pulling the strings behind the scenes, why would Michelle want to be out in front?

I've yet to hear of anybody in the Democratic party so much as hint at Michelle wanting the job. This idea only seems to spring up now and then among Republicans.

Who the heck is Judge Joe Brown

He had a tv show like Judge Judy.

I would pay money. I would hook up cable tv to watch JD Vance debate either
I'd rather stab pencils into my ears than listen to AOC in a debate, but Mayor Pete could easily hang with Vance. That'd be a good show.

Joe said he is dropping out of the race. News changes fast in a matter of hours. I have no idea who Kamala would choose either. Hopefully, Kamala chooses someone who is more centrist, a more conservative, non-woke Democrat, if that makes any sense.

"Evangelizing for 'woke'" has been Harris' most public role in the last year or so.

I deleted that post because the clip had profanity in it. You don’t know who Judge Joe Brown is?

Truly, no, I'd never heard of him before today. Wikipedia and some posts in this thread have filled me in.

Still, unless he's an investigative reporter, I don't see why I should trust his judgment as more than slander.

Yeah, that is the sad part. Remember the days when Democrats were not woke? I remember the tail end of those days. It was the early 2010s, a decade ago.

I'm afraid that what you see as "woke", the Democratic Party sees as "human rights", so I don't think the party is going to budge a lot on those social issues. Harris and Biden are about as centrist as you can expect the party to be right now.

What could happen, though, if the two major parties are willing, is that (after the election) the two parties can work out compromises when different sets of human rights come into conflict. I don't know if our current Congress is up to that, but we can dream.

Well, I understand human rights (Galatians 3:28), but the other stuff (gender) has got to go. A long time ago, Democrats never talked about identity politics as much as it is now. Call me an old soul, but I miss the days where Democrats focused on real issues, such as making medical bills lower, helping American citizens, and building more wind turbines. Remember those days, the early Obama years of 2009-2013 and before?

Nowadays, Democrats force the LGBT stuff on us.

Same here, though luckily, the debates are streamed on YouTube nowadays. I can hook my computer up to the big screen using a Roku streaming stick.

She will pick whoever the polls suggest. They need name recognition and voters in a swing state. I pray a capable and experienced Governor or Senator. I suppose she could pick a cabinet officer as some suggest but is there anyone with charisma, experience and good performance?

Yes, except I should have added might bring along a swing state, which for the pres KY is not - with Trump on the ballot.
I don't think they could flip Kentucky, but Beshear could exhibit a degree of normalcy to the ticket - a contrast to the lunacy of California government. That may get a never Trump vote or two.

I pray someone for someone who is pro-life, experienced, and humble as Kamala's VP pick.

In the early-mid 90's, she was dating the CA Speaker of the Assembly, who appointed her to a couple of commissions. That was after she had already been hired as a deputy DA. That doesn't really have anything to do with her subsequently moving to SF or later getting elected to a number of positions.

Amusingly, Judge Joe Brown had some trouble going back to practicing law after his show ended:

A long time ago, Democrats never talked about identity politics as much as it is now.

When was that? When Democrats were the southern, pro-segregation racists? When they were the war-protesting feminists? When they were the pro-environment, pro-civil rights leftists? When they were pushing the labels that became described as "hyphenated Americans"?

lol wut? 2009-2013? Seriously? How old are you? 25?

...

haha, I just checked your profile. Amazing.

Conservatives have been complaining about Dems pushing "identity politics" since before you were born. In reality, "all politics is identity politics." The Right leans into identity politics just as much as the left; they're just better at couching it in terms that don't make it quite so obvious.
