Biden's story is similar. Remember the 1988 primary? It was a primary season with lots of candidates (as was the case in 2020). Biden was one of many candidates, but he withdrew early. In a later decade, after he was more well known, Biden succeeded in being elected. Harris is similarly more well known than she was in 2020.

But we've had a precedent remember? And her husband was the president. If anyone knows the job he does. Trump wasn't qualified either but they chose him. His popularity is difficult to overcome for most.

I would not have voted for Hillary Clinton if her only qualification had been her time as First Lady. By the time she was running for president, she had served as senator and as Secretary of State, a much more substantial resume.

Trump had no political experience. Everyone doesn't vote along those lines as you've witnessed from the site. She's popular and sensible and has other qualities working in her favor. She went to Princeton and Harvard and has a law degree. She worked at a prestigious firm that was number 3 in the nation when I looked into them. And she has the University of Chicago on her cv. She looks the part and was the first lady.

She's not intimidated by Trump. He can't get under her skin like he rattles the rest. Watch and see what happens. Keep the popcorn on standby.

There's loads of qualified centrist D's who make a good choice. I think of my CO Senator Bennet for example. She probably wont go too far left in this political environment.
I hope she picks someone smart that has some geopolitical experience and a small understanding of the economy. Has anyone voted for a president because of the VP? I think Pence drew a lot of Christian fence sitters to Trump.

It used to be that the second place finisher was to be vice-president, they changed that early on, but it must’ve been an interesting experiment.

You answered your own question, and I agree.

The pick will be
white
male
centrist

Michelle Obama? She has never held elected public office. Neither has Kennedy, to my knowledge (aside from a very brief time as assistant DA). President is not an entry-level job.
There was that game show host that won the Presidency, (who had no political experience), what was his name?

No sir, color wasn't in the equation there was a qualifier smart.
Sorry, the second part of my post was not meant as reply to your thoughts. That was just my own stuff.

I do think a white male centrist is the only choice. "Electability" is the watchword (again).

Which is probably why I voted for him in the primary 8 years ago. The VP pick will be a democrat.

Could Harris pick Joe Biden to be her VP? Those two simply trading places would make for the least change, and Joe could be right there to help here out.

I'm just thinking that if there was some VP of any race that can talk intelligently on issues more Independents might float his way because Harris is a turnoff.

Are there any centrists left among the Democrats?
Lots of them. Mark Kelly AZ. Shapiro gov of PA. Bennet CO senator. I could go on. Right wing media prefers to ignore them as they and many others wreck the "radical left!" shouting points.

Mark Kelly keeps getting mentioned and I must confess I didn’t know who he was

Legally, I believe so, since he’s constitutionally eligible to be president again.

Politically, that seems … misguided.
