It was a formal assembly, there would be no judge, one lawyer, a Bailiff, and one court ordered stenographer. Those present would be the acting jurors. After all the witnesses are heard, those in attendance would be polled, and a verdict rendered. Let the proceeding begin.
One man sat in the middle of the court room. A bailiff announced, "Let the trial begin." The lawyer walked over to a man seated in the middle of the room and asked, "What is your name sir?" My name is "Jesus." "Where were you born?" "The town of Bethlehem, in the nation of Israel." "Were you born a Jew?" "Yes," He replied.
"You have been accused of lies, and blaspheme, against the state, and the people; is this true?" "Yes." "How do you plead sir?" "Not guilty."
"Will the first witness come forward." A woman approached, and took her seat. The lawyer asked her, "What is your name." "Martha," she replied. "Do you know this man?" "Yes, He was a dear friend of our family. When my brother Lazarus died, on the fourth day, He raised him back to life." "Who do you say this man is?" "He is the Son of God, which should come into the world." Thank you,
Let me call the second witnesses, a man who knew him well. "Will John the Baptist step forward." "What is it you do?" "I preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins." Pointing to Jesus he asked, "Do you know this man?" "Yes, I baptized him in the Jordan river." "Who do you say He is?" "He is the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world."
Thank you sir, will the next witness please step forward. "Can you tell us your name sir?" "My name is Thomas." "What relationship do you have with this man?" "I was one of His 12 apostiles." "So you know this man?" "Yes, I walked with him for three years, having once doubted him." "Who do you say this man is?" "He is my "Lord and my God." Thank you sir for your testimony."
The forth witness came forward and was asked, "What is your name?" "My name is Paul." "Tell us a little about yourself." "I am a Roman citizen, born in Tarsus, a tent maker and an apostle to the Gentiles." "Do you know this man?" "Yes, I helped in the persecution of his apostles, was responsible for stoning one of them to death, a man called Stephen. I also brought to trial, and imprisoned many of his disciples." "Who do you say this man is?" "He is the image of the invisible God, the first-born of every creature. By Him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible." "Thank you sir, you may step down."
"Will the next witness come forward." A man clad in Roman soldiers armor stepped forward. "What is it you do?" "I am a centurion of the Roman legions." "How do you know this man?" "I was at the cross when He was crucified." "Who do you say this man is?" "Truly, this was the Son of God."
"What is your name?" "My name is John." "Tell us about yourself." "I met Jesus when I was young. I became one of the 12 apostles, and walked with Him for three years. When I was imprisoned on the island of Patmos at the age of 90, He came to me in spirit." "Who do you say this man is?" "He is Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end, the Almighty." "Thank you sir, will the next witnesses come forward."
These next witnesses were different from the others, for they were spirits. "Who are you, and what are your names?" One stepped forward stating, "We are unclean spirits: our name is Legion, for we are many." "Do you know this man?" "Yes." "Who do you say He is?" "He is the Son of the most high God." The man said, "Go now, far from this place."
"Will the next witness step forward." A large burly type man walked up, and sat down. "What is you name?" "My name is Peter, I am a fisherman." "Do you know this man?" "Yes, I was with Him in the garden of Gethsemane when a crowd came and took Him away." "Who do you say He is?" "He is the Christ, the Son of the living God." Thank you for your testimony John; will the next witness step forward."
An angel of the Lord stepped forward. "Sir can you tell us who you are?" "Yes, I am the bearer of messages from the God in heaven, my name is Gabriel." "Sir do you know this man?" "Yes." "Who do you say this man is?" "He is Jesus, the Son of the Highest, and He shall sit on the throne of his father David; and He shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; His kingdom there shall be no end." "Sir, that was a wonderful testimony, thank you; you may now step down."
"Will the next witness please step forward." "Sir, what is your name?" "My name is Pontius Pilate." "What is your position?" "I am the 5th procurator of imperial Rome in Palestine." "Do you know this man?" "Yes, after the Jewish authority condemned him, they brought Him to me. I questioned Him, and could find no evil in Him. I washed my hands of the matter, and turned Him over to the people to be crucified." Who do you say He is?" "He is Jesus, King of the Jews." "Thank you sir, you may step down.
"Will the next witness step forward. "Sir what is your name?" "My name is Judas Iscariot." "What do you do?" "I was appointed treasurer for the disciples." "Do you know this man?" "Yes, He is Jesus of Nazareth." "What do you have to say about this man?" "I have sinned against him, in that I betrayed innocent blood." "You may go now."
Will the thief come forward. "Do you know this man?" "Yes, I was one of the two that was crucified by Him on the cross." "Who do you say He is?" The thief said, "I was condemned justly; for I received the due reward of my deeds, but this man hath done nothing wrong." "Thank you sir, you may step down."
"Will the last witness come forward. Will the Father of this man step forward." Can you tell us who you are?" "I am the LORD God Almighty, the Father of this man." "Who do you say He is?" "This is my beloved Son, in Him my soul is well pleased." "Thank you sir."
All the witnesses have been called, and now its up to you to judge Him.
John 1:11, "He came unto His own, and his own received him not." He was rejected as Messiah, nor did anyone believe in Him for salvation. Yet He died for you, me, and for all men. So how do you find this man, guilty, or not guilty?
