Do you say/think: “Our Father, please …” or
“Oh, Jesus, please …” or
Something else.
I’m not referring to “In the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit,”
Or “In the name of Jesus,” but comments are fine.
"O merciful Father"
"Lord Jesus Christ"
"O Holy Spirit"
"Kind and loving God"
"Lord, ..."
"Most Holy God and Trinity"
This is true both when I pray spontaneous prayers and when I pray regular prayers.
For example the most common prayer that I pray is the Jesus prayer, the long version is "Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner" shorter versions include "Lord, have mercy" or "Jesus, have mercy on me".
I also regularly pray the Lord's Prayer.
I will often also pray to invite the Holy Spirit to bring me peace, "Come Holy Spirit, bring me peace."
Sometimes my prayers are just praise, often the Glora Patri, "Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end."
Often my personal prayers are a mix of regular prayer and spontaneous prayer, or a blend of the two.
"Most Holy Trinity, God, King of the Universe, have mercy on me, strengthen my faith, keep me, hold me, preserve me, grant me Your peace."
Sometimes my only prayer is the sign of the cross, or the wordless silence of my often confused mind and aching heart desperate for God.
