  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Important here, who do you support, rather than who would you vote for. I'm an NDP supporter (card-carrying) but I voted liberal because I live in a Quebec riding and I was voting against the Bloc rather than for the NDP. My vote would have been wasted. So, in a perfect world, who would you vote for?

I've voted for every major party in one election or another but have to confess I quite liked Chretien and was very disappointed with some of the stuff that has surfaced lately.

Due to the sponsorship scandal and my distaste for the way Paul Martin handled many things leading up to the election (taking over the Liberal party, forcing Chretien out, pretending to support democracy to oust his opponents in riding nominations while appointing "star candidates" in certain ridings, etc...) I decided to cast my vote for the MP rather than the party.

I feel my riding has one of the most competent and qualified MPs in the country and she has done an excellent job over the past 10+ years so I voted for her...I live in Calgary so that should give you an idea of which party I voted for.

I voted for Christian Heritage Party in June.
It took me a lot of thinking for who to vote for. My birthday was 2 days before the election so it was my first time to vote and I took advantage of it and voted. After a lot of thinking, CHP supports everything I believe in!

Serious question Bree..... how do you swing between the two? That is, what issues push you NDP and what issues push you Conservative..... I'm only curious because I know lots of people who swing between the Libs and Cons.... or the Libs and the NDP.... but I have never met someone who swung Cons to NDP. Does that make sense? I'm just curious is all.

Peace.

I like the NDP, but infortunately the bulk of their ideas are socially and economicaaly unviable... if it's between the Liberal and the Conservatives, I support the Conservatives, but you really didn't post a very good poll, because you only listed the major parties.. what about the Christian Heritage party etc? There are a few more offical parties you didn't post, you should have probably put an "other" option as well

You'll love this one.

I'm sick of the Liberals being in power, I think we need someone new in to shake things up a bit. Plus, I'm still ticked off about C-68. I'd like a NDP government with a Conservative minority. I like the ideas of the DNP(health care/education) and the morality of the Conservatives. I'd like to see the Green Party gain a few seats as well...just not too many.

I voted for a candidate rather than a party... actually voted for an Independent (who won!) ... in the previous election I voted for the Liberals but I doubt I would have done so in this election. Just not a fan of where that party is going.

I also don't like the Conservatives' stance on a lot of issues; the only one I agree with is general morality, but EVERY SINGLE other issue I disagree with them, and most Christian parties, on.

So I would have voted NDP if I hadn't voted Independent.
