(Prov 1:20-24 [AKJV])
Wisdom cries without; she utters her voice in the streets:
She cries in the chief place of concourse, in the openings of the gates: in the city she utters her words, saying,
How long, you simple ones, will you love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge?
Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit to you, I will make known my words to you. Because I have called, and you refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded;

It seems to me that many of the people who commonly post in this subforum lack VERY BASIC logic skills. So many people discredit arguments based on the sheer fact that they don't want to believe the conclusions. They say that some opinions are wrong and when asked to back up their beliefs they just say "cause that's just the way it is"

How is it that people can take comfort in illogical beliefs? I just don't understand. Any comments?

I've done my best to be civil through all the arguments, I must say that my patience is wearing a bit thin though.

Im assuming you're referring to us that say homosexuality is wrong....we lack very basic logic skills? why would that be? because we stand on the Word of God?

To be honest, you're the one that's being illogical...You're supposed to be a Christian, and a Christian LOGICALLY will always look to God's Word for answers, rather than man's. That is the VERY BASIC logic skills that as Christians we're supposed to have. When we ask YOU to back up your beliefs, as a Christian, it would be LOGICAL for you to look to the Bible for proof, but you don't. When you ask us to back up our beliefs, we quote the Word of God. So how are we the illogical ones? Are you saying that our belief in God's Word isn't logical? Cuz that's what i get from your statements.

Ironic....

Not to mention this isn't the discuss logic forum. You shouldn't state that people are illogical because they come to a different conclusion than you do.

Actually I do back up my beliefs with the Bible, I don't use specific verses because I believe that all of them point to an all loving God. I was referring to the poor logic of many of the arguments that appear in this forum. Blatantly illogical remarks are held as truth, it's so difficult for me to understand how some people would actually believe that they're saying. So many appeals to tradition, strawmen, circular arguments; anyone with a basic working knowledge of logic and philosophy would be astounded at all of the fallacies. I just don't get how people can arrive at some of their conclusions without using logic. It makes no sense to me.

Different conclusions are fine, as long as you get to the different conclusion in a logical way, I have yet to see a good sound argument on this forum.

Incase you haven't noticed the vast majority of the church population isn't trained in logic or philosophy. Very dissapointing...I know.

The problem with this debate is that there is such little evidence to work with this issue. And I will agree with you, a lot of the conclusions many which I have refuted myself are highly speculative.

The vast majority of the church population hasn't mastered even basic critical thinking skills -- they believe either what their pastor tells them to believe, or what they've cherry-picked out of the Bible -- and that's it!

I know, lets trade insults, you post what you think "the vast majority of the church population" does or does not do. And in response I post a knee jerk, broad brush, no-brainer diatribe what I think the majority of homosexuals do. I can say things like, "The vast majority of homosexuals have AIDS, are predators, are pedophiles, have hundreds of partners," etc., etc. You want to continue down this road?

silence is golden but duck tape is silver. I find it ironic that this post is from one of those for whom the original post is intended.
