It seems disingenuous of you to be able to "debate" the points I made in my last post to you, while saying that you will no longer "debate" anymore points made in reference to 1 Corinthians 13 - for the excuses you offered.

I used "punked" to express one's lack of willingness to do or perform what they should do. You should answer the points I made about 1 Corinthians 13 - the analogies of Paul, the definition of "teleios", the context of "that which", etc., etc. But you have lost your willingness to do so now that the truth is so plain, huh? Well, you are not the first to "punk out" in such a position.

DEBATING is not a religous crime. Paul powerfully "confuted" with the Jews in Acts 18:28. You might find these scriptures to be of interest as well - Acts 17:2, 18:4,19, 24:25. These events were not after dinner talks! Of course some do not care for "deabte" after they find themselves in, how shall we say it... an "awkward" position.

Did Jesus ever debate? YES He did. Matthew 21:25 is a favorite! You think about it!

However, I would still like to read your position on the points in 1 Corinthians 13 I have requested above - if you feel able.

This will be my last response to you Apollos. You do not exhibit the spirit of God and I have fallen once into your trap and have allowed the devil a foothold to cause me to stumble. I choose not to put myself in that position again, as such I will not reply to ANY of your posts, so as you will not consider me disingenuous. Consider these texts and I will pray for you that you may have a change of heart:

Ps 10:4 The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek [after God]: God [is] not in all his thoughts.

Proverbs 8:13 The fear of the LORD [is] to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.

Proverbs 11:2 [When] pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly [is] wisdom

Proverbs 13:10 Only by pride cometh contention: but with the well advised [is] wisdom.

Proverbs 16:18 Pride [goeth] before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.

Proverbs 29:23 A man's pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit.

Mark 7:21-23 For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.

1 John 2:16 For all that [is] in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

I admit my limited surprise that you have taken the course of non-action. One must ask WHY you would take such a course?

You said - You do not exhibit the spirit of God...

Why? Because I asked you for some answers to what I said about 1 Corinthains 13 ??

And why are you so judgmental? I would ask for a specific example of where I have not exhibited such a spirit, but I don't believe you can present one example or that this complaint of yours is truly the problem you are having. I believe that because you can NOT answer my exegesis above in reference to 1 Corinthains 13 and the matter of spiritual gifts, you have instead chosen to offer flimsy excuses and go judgmental to avoid embarrassment. (Ooops, now I have gone judgmental on you.)

But before we close here, allow me to present you with a verse or two...

Proverbs 28:1 - "The wicked flee when no man pursueth; But the righteous are bold as a lion. "

Matthew 22:46 - "And no one was able to answer him a word, neither durst any man from that day forth ask him any more questions."

I am more than willing to discuss these things with you. YOU are not! WHY is that?

Two knowledgeable, sincere students of the Word (which I believe Apollos and Loveaboveall both are) should be able to discuss issues of Biblical interest without this talk of being punked out and motes in your eye.

If the two of you are serious about what you believe there is plenty of room for mutual respect, and no room for personal attacks. Y'all make me feel like I'm watching a wrestling match sometimes.

Thank you for your reply.

Of all the OT faithful, Elijah has always stood out as my favorite, even in my younger days. (Gideon is a close second).

Your reply reminds me of the occasion found in 1 Kings 18 - starting with verse 18, but I will be referring to verse 27.

You see, I have no reservation in prodding, poking, mocking (as did Elijah), shaming, etc., anyone who will not face the truth - especially after I have shown it from scripture.

Now loveabove freely got into a discussion with me. But after I produced what I beleive to be the truth on the topic, he too conveniently "excused" himself from further discussion for reasons that can only be called "lame" (see verse 21 on 1 Kings 18 also).

You likened our exchanges a to a wrestling match. I feel it has been more of a rodeo. I have had to wrestle him to the ground thoughand... loveabove was about to get branded... but "punked" out. (I have given the definition above and I think it is fair. However, only he can prove me to be wrong at this point.)

Now I know that I can be "abrasive" in discussion. But I also believe I have been respectful at all times.

As far as continuing this discussion, I am ready to continue. I have quite a bit of time invested (I mean, my exegesis of 1 Corinthians 13 above took quite a bit of time to do!)

Send loveabove a private message and see if you can get him to come back and answer those things he needs to answer...

I appreciate the time and effort you have put into your posts, but also we should also recognize and respect the time and effort others put into theirs.

As one who has had (and still sometimes has) a reputation for being abrasive, I know what it is like to feel justified in the way I said things because I KNEW I was right and the other guy was wrong. As a matter of fact, I believe abrasive is the very word my husband of all people used to describe me. Maybe this is better in a PM.
