Of course not. A theory is tentative and always open to change. Religions are known for dogma, not science.

Exactly.

Yep and somehow, those theories keep coming through for you and producing reliable results, everyday you rely on them.

Yep. I agree that:
A theory is tentative and always open to change.

and not to mention that it all is based on theory......
yes and I think the moms contribution is what their priests call
"junk " thus making this scripture true.

1Co 8:2

And if any man think that he knoweth any thing, he knoweth nothing yet as he ought to know.

Does this also mean that man can know nothing about scripture?

Exactly what?

Would you rather science proclaim it's theories to be unassailable and perfect so that no one can ever question them, just like a religion?

That's an interesting take on my post.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on it.

Do you think science should be more like a religion by being dogmatic? Would you be more apt to accept a theory as true if someone wrote them down in a holy book and proclaimed them to be true because they say so?

These pesky theories of science are scary things to some. They rely on them everyday without really knowing it and then they need to misrepresent them or outright deny them to protect a certain faith belief.

Must be difficult, to deal with that level of cognitive dissonance.

Interesting thoughts. Thanks for sharing them.

Science is not exact, but is as limited as man, who tries to figure out what makes things "tick" in his faltering and clumsy way, as he does one "oops" after another....

and that is what man's theories are....

learning from all the "oops" factors and just inching along painfully even as man will NEVER EVER "know all things" and will remain virtually in the dark for he will never be "omniscient", for he never "created" anything from the gitgo, because he's not the Creator.

He's just finite man, who is here very briefly and dies, returning to the dust from whence he came.

Yes, these same theories that virtually all humans rely on everyday. Even if limited, wow, they have increased the quality of life for many.

So, who is this creator, can your limited ability point him out to me.

LOL! No. I'm afraid i am, as you say "limited".

Theories are as well.

Which ones?

You don't know which scientific theories have helped provide the conveniences you enjoy everyday of your life? Have you ever bothered to think about that? Review the list of daily conveniences I provided for you before. Everyone one of those works, because of some scientific theory that allowed increased understanding of how nature works and to allow technologies to advance.

I assume when you are sick, you seek the care of a physician and or you do the same for your kids, if you have them. Next time you go to see a physician, why don't you ask them whether they agree with evolutionary theory and what role the theory has had in improving medical science? Ask them about germ theory and whether that concept has helped them to treat certain infections and increase quality of life.

Religion has those same limitations, and it has the added problem of ignoring inconvenient evidence while holding onto dogmatic positions.

That seems preferable to inventing a story and never changing it, no matter what evidence is found.
