I am a massive Queen fan and that track just blows my mind , it is just sooooooooo full of vocals it makes me laugh ...... no way could you fit another vocal into that complex and massive project !!!

hehe, everytime i listen to that song i love it more, but the first time i heard it i just thought it was wierd but i love any band who make good use of vocal harmony and as you said, there's no more harmony to put into that song!

Alicia Keys - When You Really Love Someone

I'm a woman
Lord knows it's hard
I need a real man to give me what I need
Sweet attention, love and tenderness
When it's real, its unconditional, I'm telling ya’ll
Cause a man just ain't a man if he ain’t man enough

To love you when you're right
Love you when you're wrong
Love you when you're weak
Love you when you're strong
Take you higher when the world got you feeling low
He's giving you his last, cause he’s thinking of you first
Giving comfort when he's thinking that you're hurt
That's what's done when you really love someone
I'm telling ya’ll, I'm telling ya’ll

Cause you're a real man
And Lord knows it's hard
Sometimes you just need a woman's touch
Sweet affection, love and support
When it's real its unconditional
I'm telling ya’ll, oh
Cause a woman ain't a woman if she ain’t woman enough

To love you when you're right
Love you when you're wrong
Love you when you're weak
Love you when you're strong
Take you higher when the world got you feeling low
She's giving you her best, even when you’re at your worse
Giving comfort when she's thinking that you're hurt
That's what's done when you really love someone
I'm telling ya’ll, I'm telling ya’ll
Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh

Sometimes you're gonna argue, sometimes you're gonna fight
Sometimes it's gonna feel like it'll never be right
But something so strong keeps you hold’n on
It don't make sense but it makes a good song
Cause a man just ain't a man if he ain’t man enough

To love you when you're right
Love you when you're wrong
Love you when you're weak
Love you when you're strong (Love when you when you’re strong)
(Take you high’a) when the world got you feeling low
He's giving you his last, cause he’s thinking of you first
Giving comfort when he's thinking that you're hurt
That's what's done when you really love someone
I'm telling ya’ll, I'm telling ya’ll
I'm telling ya’ll that a woman ain't a woman if she ain’t woman enough
(To love ya!)
Love you when you're right
Love you when you're wrong
(To hold ya!)

Love you when you're weak
Love you when you're strong
Take you higher and higher
when the world got you feeling low
She's giving you her best, even when you’re at your worse
(even when you’re at your worst, BABYBA!)
Giving comfort when she's thinking that you're hurt
That's what's done when you really love someone
I'm telling ya’ll, I'm telling ya’ll
Mm, mm, yeah

this is my fave song ever

I like the Goo Goos song too. I never thought I would put it on an all time favorites list, but now that I think about it, they have really good songs.

I'd probably pick a Bob Dylan song. I just can't single it down to one.

"Sonny Boy" by Al Jolson was pretty good. But most people who have heard the song have been dead for decades now.

"Moon River" was good.

I really tried to break it down to one but I couldn't. I got as far as 6 all time favorites (edit: eh, scratch that.... 7).

I'm a huge classic rock fan, which will become extremely evident upon browsing this list. Some music is just timeless, and the fact that it was created before I was even on the planet, just makes it all the more mysterious to me.

If(by Bread)

If a picture paints a thousand words,
Then why can't I paint you?
The words will never show the you I've come to know.
If a face could launch a thousand ships,
Then where am I to go?
There's no one home but you,
You're all that's left me too.
And when my love for life is running dry,
You come and pour yourself on me.

If a man could be two places at one time,
I'd be with you.
Tomorrow and today, beside you all the way.
If the world should stop revolving spinning slowly down to die,
I'd spend the end with you.
And when the world was through,
Then one by one the stars would all go out,
Then you and I would simply fly away

Vincent (by Don McLean, and I love Josh Groban's version)

Starry
starry night
paint your palette blue and grey

look out on a summer's day
with eyes that know the
darkness in my soul.
Shadows on the hills
sketch the trees and the daffodils

catch the breeze and the winter chills

in colors on the snowy linen land.
And now I understand what you tried to say to me

how you suffered for your sanity
how you tried to set them free.
They would not listen
they did not know how

perhaps they'll listen now.

Crying (by Roy Orbison, and I also love KD Lang's version so much)

I was all right for a while, I could smile for a while
But I saw you last night, you held my hand so tight
As you stopped to say "Hello"
Aww you wished me well, you couldn't tell

That I'd been cry-i-i-i-ng over you, cry-i-i-i-ng over you
Then you said "so long". left me standing all alone
Alone and crying, crying, crying cry-i-ing
It's hard to understand but the touch of your hand
Can start me crying

You really got me (by the Kinks)
Girl, you really got me goin'
You got me so I don't know what I'm doin'
Yeah, you really got me now
You got me so I can't sleep at night

Yeah, you really got me now
You got me so I don't know what I'm doin', now
Oh yeah, you really got me now
You got me so I can't sleep at night

You Really Got Me
You Really Got Me
You Really Got Me

Layla ( by Eric Clapton )
Layla, you've got me on my knees.
Layla, I'm begging, darling please.
Layla, darling won't you ease my worried mind.

Clapton is a crazy man on the guitar and I love him.

Finally, #6 - Absolutely anything Michael Mcdonald sings. I really like his remakes of the Motown classics, especially "baby I need your lovin." and "mercy mercy me" (which reminds me that I also love absolutely anything by Marvin Gaye) so that's #7.

I think i'm gonna be the first person to put up a bluegrass song.
I AM impresssed though! Everytime i've asked people for their all time favorite song, they just drop a jaw and say "oh man, that's impossible". I don't think so. I think that so long as you know what you like in a song, you can have a favorite song.

My first favorite song ever was:
Suite: Judy Blue Eyes By CSN&Y . I just loved the guitar and the harmonies (I only really listenned to the woodstock version but that's okay cause that version kicked AS!

My present ALL time favorite is:
Winter's Come and Gone By Gillian Welsh.

Oh little red bird come to my window sill
Been so lonesome shaking that morning chill
Oh little red bird open your mouth and say
Been so lonesome just about flown away

So long now I've been out in the rain and snow
But winter's come and gone a little bird told me so

Oh little blue bird pearly feather breast
Five cold nickels all I got left oh little blue bird
What am I gonna do five cold nickels
Ain't gonna see me through

So long now I've been out in the rain and snow
But winter's come and gone a little bird told me so

Oh little black bird on my wire line
Dark as trouble in this heart of mine
Poor little black bird sings a worried song
Dark as trouble 'til winter's come and gone

So long now I've been out in the rain and snow
But winter's come and gone a little bird told me so

So long now I've been out in the rain and snow
But winter's come and gone a little bird told me so

Why do i LOVe it?
1) Well the lyrics read like a nice simple clearly imagined poem. Nice easy to digest, EASY to picture lyrics are good! (especially if they're also poetic)

2) It has JUST the right amount of melancholy and dispare without feeling drowned.

3) The track itself is just two vocals and two guitars. I think at times that THAT is absolutely all that music really needs.
4) Despite the minimal production, I have listenned to the song at LEAST 1000 times and I will STILL hear something new in there. Like playing a dim7 instead of the root (but doing it so softly that it isn't noticed).

If you can listen to a song 1000 times and continue to hear new aspects of it, that song HAS to be good as far as i'm concerned ;-)

You know, I don't really have one. For a while, my all-time fave was "Enjoy the Silence" by Depeche Mode. Then it lost its appeal, for some reason. Have no idea why.

That's okay, you don't have to explain. Words are not necessary.
