  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

When I asked if Lew white was credible someone brought up the Sacred ane teaching. I believ in this teaching and will cal G-d Yahweh and Jesus yahushua since i feel that these are their proper names. And that it is out of love and respect that I call them what they are really named. So what is wrong with this sacred name teaching?

essentially the Sacred Name Doctrine is that any names other than the ones they have decided are the correct ones are blasphemy and dishonoring to G-d - and are praying to or calling upon false, pagan gods and thus idolatry...

in this forum one is welcome to use what ever version of the Names with which they are most comfortable - and it is expected that they will afford the same grace to all other posters..... it is encouraged that one use the Tetragrammaton as little as one can possibly do in comfort as there are members who are very uncomfortable with it's use AND invisible lurking guests who may be Jewish would most often find it's use sacrilegious and dishonoring to G-d....

while there are a few here who are convinced that they have access to scholarship that proves what the spelling and pronunciation of the Name is, it still remains the opinion of equally scholarly leaders in this movement who are unconvinced the true pronunciation has been found and believe that His Name is too Holy to guess at This has essentially been the opinion and tradition in Judaism for may hundreds of years.... and even when the Tetragrammaton was known it was only used at specific times each year....

again, there are those who will equivocate with dissenting opinions - I here present the prevailing opinion in Traditional Messianic Judaism as an informational answer to your query

a selection of various resources pro and con...

HT:

It is not about knowing what the Name is, as it really doesn't matter to me, because I do not use it. For me it is about finding out what it isn't. The sacred name movement has a bunch of choices. Most of them are not even a probability.

We are disciples of Yeshua. If you can find Him using the sacred name anywhere in the NT then we have the sanction. If not, then I wouldn't do it.

I am one who feels uncomfortable with people useing the tetragrammaton in everyday conversation. It kinda makes me have an "eeek!" face when I see it used frequently. lol But I don't condem anyone who does use it. That's between you and G-d. But as for me--- "HaShem" is just right

BTW- Good point Steve!

I was brought up using the names of Yahweh and Yahshua....and I have never heard of the "sacred name movement" until I joined this forum...

I grew up totally isolated from anyone even remotely connected to using these names.

I find it strange that I would be lumped togther with such a group, when those who acuse me of doing so, know nothing of my upbringing, my beliefs and my walk in the spirit.

It is natural for me to use these names....I am teaching my son to do so...and it will be natural for him to use them.

...and I apologise to anyone who if offended by my continued usage of Them.

Shalom from Bon

Shalom, Bon.

I remember when you first started posting here and I noticed you use Yahweh and Yahshua then, so, right away, I was curious if you were in line with the "Sacred Namers". I have never once seen you promote or evidence ANY kind of connection or theology in line with the "Sacred Namers". I guess that's -- to me -- a perfect example of the very fact that not all is remotely as it may appear... online, especially... and why I am always running about declaring that we do not and cannot know the substance and fullness of one another's theological stands and faith-walk based upon a handful or even a forum-full of posts on a message board.

The Sacred-namers I have known go so far as to say that anyone who is not calling on the name "correctly" (again, as they determine "correct" to be) are not even "Saved". I think that is about as ridiculous as declaring that one must NOT use a construct like Yahshua for Messiah, or declaring that those who call on Jesus MUST change and call Him Y'shua... Beh! He knows Who He is and He knows if one is calling on Him or not, no matter what name/title we choose. I can't stand it when people -- especially people online, who aren't right there in personal relationship -- try to force their opinions and so-called "scholarly" insights on others who neither asked for their opinion ( ) nor are accountable to said people, but to G-d alone, for their choices in such matters.

Thank you so much Zemirah.

One thing I personally strive, never to do, is judge others....that is a job we must leave for Yahshua.

I say, each to their own....as we are all in a different place in our walk. All we can do is share our beliefs and understanding with other's.

I do not identify with any group or movement out there and I do not adhere to any set man-made of doctrines. Mine is a personal relationship with my Heavenly Father through His Word.

I believe that many of us are here for the same reason....we do not want to follow man...but only Yahweh.

And I appreciate this forum for that very reason....You are my precious little family in Yahshua.

Who ever He is to you in Name, He is our Almighty Heavenly Father, Creator of the universe, Giver of life and I thank Him every day for showing me His ways.

Shalom to you all

Bon
