  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

what's the difference between loving someone and being in love?

I'd say it's the difference between a rectangle and a square.
A square is a rectangle, but a rectangle is not necessarily a square.
In the same way, being in love is loving someone, but loving someone is not necessarily being in love with someone. An example would be platonic love or loving someone like a brother or sister versus romantic love.

I guess it can vary from person to person. I love God, my friends and family with a passion I seek to please them in anyway I can and (because I feel they love me back) expect them to help me when I need it. I think that is what Wedjat describes as Platonic Love. The only time I've considered myself to be 'in love' with someone was a while back when I was in my first committed relationship, its hard to describe what its like to be in love. Its like seeing the world with new eyes, if you want to be poetic about it.
I hope I've helped.

The difference is that loving someone is a real emotion. Love of your family members and friends is developed and nurtured over time. It is unspoken, but always present.

Being in love is completely made up. All that crap is just a justification of human base emotions like lust and a need for physical attention. Nobody is really "in love" with anybody. Especially not teenagers. It's all just a lie that teenagers use to get laid before they leave for college.
