Connie I believe you are on the right track searching the scriptures...For many years I used the NIV study Bible until error...(this will explain) www.av1611.org/niv.html www.chick.com/information/bibleversions/articles/nivquiz.asp Hope this will be helpful...gregThanks for Greg for the explanations about why Jesus is like the 10 commandments.
Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city. Rev 22:12-14
But my NIV says it this way (and it makes a whole lot more sense to me):
22:12"Behold, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to everyone according to what he has done. 22:13I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.22:14"Blessed are those who wash their robes, that they may have the right to the tree of life and may go through the gates into the city.
The reward Jesus is talking about is the crown of jewels we get based on the deeds we do on earth. The washing of the robes is the accepting Jesus as Lord and Savior. That is what I believe and it makes sense to me.

Amen Sister.Greg:
I don't believe that the NIV is evil. I think it is the word of God.
That being said...I went back to the Greek and indeed the KJV is more accurate. BUT Here is what I believe from these verses and you can believe what you want.
NOBODY can keep the 10 commandments the way Jesus described them. If you look at a person with lust you have committed adultry. If you are angry at someone you have committed murder. If you want anything your neighbour has you are covetous. Only by Jesus's blood are we Blessed.
I ask for forgiveness everyday but sure shooting I'd forget something. My goodness I'm imperfect. But by His Blood I am covered and I am Blessed. Now don't get me wrong I'm not a Mother Theresa and I'm not a Clifford Olsen but I'm what my mother referred to as good people...I try to be good. But to God I'm a sinner...without Jesus I'm a black hearted sinner.
Through Jesus we DO HIS COMMANDMENTS. God doesn't see our sin. It is as far as the east is from the west. That is how we enter the city gates.
Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city. Rev 22:12-14
In Him

Amen Sister.
I think where the lines get blurred for some is that they assume since we aren't perfect and are bound to stumble from time to time that they need not try at all to follow the commandments or to resist sin.
It's like they've assumed sin is a given so might as well go ahead seeings how their forgiven anyway. Pretty dangerous way to live, especially considering Hebrews 10.
We are far from perfect and thank the Lord for His Love, Grace, Mercy and Forgiveness!!!
We need to be trying to do our best not to sin, to follow God's commandments. The Holy Spirit is there for us to strengthen us and guide us.
Thank goodness for Jesus, I can't come even close without Him!!!
Hebrews 10:23-27
23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised24 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: 25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. 26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, 27 But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.
I believe our intentions bare a great weight on the issue of sin, but if anyone can clarify the verses above I'd love to understand them more fully.
John 6:29
28 Then they asked him, What must we do to do the works God requires?
29 Jesus answered, The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.
I am so glad I do not have to obey every command of the Law. I discovered pretty quickly that I could not.
How about you Greg?
If an unsaved sinner cannot come to God by the Law, now do you teach that a Christian must now come this way? As a Christian I am no more able to satisfy the Law than I was before.
The difference now is that I am covered by the sacrifice of my Lord, and it is now HIS ability I rest in.
The blood of Jesus is my salvation. Nothing else. There IS no other way to gain or to maintain peace with God.
Thanks so much Chris! That really helps clarify things for me. God bless you!!!!!!!God bless you sister!
These particular verses have been used often to support the understanding of some who do not believe OSAS.
I personally believe these verses were in response to the Jews who wanted to go back to animal sacrifice for atonement of sin. Meaning that there is no sacrifice left for sin as Jesus Christ was the perfect and blameless sacrifice for ALL sin.
I know there are many who would beg to differ on this understanding...but I firmly believe that sacrifice of Jesus Christ was sufficient for ALL sin and His promise is eternal.
There are a multitude of Scripture that verifies this to me...the promise of the saving grace of Jesus Christ... my favorite being:
Ephesians 1:13,14 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
v14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of His glory.
Chuck Missler's teaching on these verses:
"Earnest of our inheritance" earnest = down payment, pledging that the full amount will be paid, also used of bridegroom's betrothal gifts to the bride.
Seal: guarantee that we ourselves will be kept safely for the inheritance (We are His inheritance as well John 17)
Earnest: that the inheritance will be kept securely for us
(We are joint-heirs with Christ Romans 8:17)
God bless you!

You are welcome sister! Chuck Missler's study on Ephesians is awesome to say the least...we're just starting on Chapter 4 now. Thanks so much Chris! That really helps clarify things for me. God bless you!!!!!!!
Arrg, another one of the great mysteries. Arrg.one more question ...someone please explain...
19 Then the temple of God was opened in heaven, and the ark of His covenant was seen in His temple.
Rev 11:19 (NKJV)
if the original ark of the covenant is in heaven right now, why is the covenant not kept ?
I thought Jesus was merely making a point about the Pharasies with those examples. I thought He was ridiculing the Ps for wearing Hypocrite Shoes. I think in Rhetoric it is called Extendum Absurdinum or something that sounds like that.NOBODY can keep the 10 commandments the way Jesus described them. If you look at a person with lust you have committed adultry. If you are angry at someone you have committed murder. If you want anything your neighbour has you are covetous.

IF WE OBEY THE COMMANDMENTS:LOVE THY NEIGHBOR AS THYSELF AND LOVE THE LORD THY GOD WITH ALL THY HEART, ALL THY SOUL, ALL THY MIND AND WITH ALL THY STRENGTH, WE ARE KEEPING THE COMMANDMENTS/COVENANT OF CHRIST.The most famous box that ever existed was a golden box called The Ark Of The Covenant. Inside The Ark were three things. The Pot Of Mana, The Rod Of Aaron and The Ten commandments. The Pot Of Mana, Jesus said He was this living bread that fell from heaven, The Rod Of Aaron was a walking staff carried by Aaron for many years, this rod was alive as a tree, then was dead and used for a walking stick then it budded again. It symbolizes the life, death and resurrection of Jesus. The third thing in This Ark Of God was the Ten Commandments, also symbolic of Christ. (1) Christ, (2) Christ, (3) Christ Remember this...the earthly Ark was only a copy of the Original Ark which is part of the THRONE OF GOD which is in Heaven.........Any Comments???? Any Questions????
12 "And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work.It IS kept - by God Himself - the God side of the covenant is kept by God and the Human side is kep by God in Christ. Our input was never sufficient and never will be, so we rest in His.
