  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

KJV, Amos 9:

11 In that day will I raise up the tabernacle of David that is fallen, and close up the breaches thereof; and I will raise up his ruins, and I will build it as in the days of old:
Strong's Hebrew: 5521. סֻכָּה (sukkah) — 31 Occurrences

Brown-Driver-Briggs

  1. thicket, lurking-place of lions
  2. booth, rude or temporary shelter, for cattle
  3. specifically of booths, made of boughs, in which people lived at harvest-feast
There was another Hebrew word that was translated as "tabernacle", NIV, Exodus 25:

9 Make this tabernacle and all its furnishings exactly like the pattern I will show you.
That's the Lord's tabernacle.

Strong's Hebrew: 4908. מִשְׁכָּן (mishkan) — 139 Occurrences

Brown-Driver-Briggs:

  1. dwelling-place
James quoted Amos in (KJV) Acts 15:

After this I will return, and will build again the tabernacle of David, which is fallen down; and I will build again the ruins thereof, and I will set it up:
ESV:

After this I will return, and I will rebuild the tent of David that has fallen; I will rebuild its ruins, and I will restore it.
It is a metaphor for the house of David or the line of David. It was fulfilled by Jesus, the Son of David.

17 that the remnant of mankind may seek the Lord, and all the Gentiles who are called by my name, says the Lord.
God restored the house of David by Jesus so that the Gentiles would know God.
