what should i do for boyfriend whose dog just died?

Hey, my boyfriend's dog got hit by a car this morning and died, he was really attached to it and is taking it kinda hard. We've been going out off and on for 2 years and r at 7 months right now. I wanna do something sweet for him, i'm thinking about getting him a build a bear, it's like a stuffed animal that u can dress up and put phrases into, like i'll prob say a funy phrase thing between us. But does that sound ok? If u guys have anyother ideas they'd be much appreciated too!
Please pray for him and his family as well.

Just about anything would be fine, just as long as you don't make it look like you're trying to replace his dog with a stuffed toy (not that you'd really do that). Just be sincere in your sentiments, that's what's most important.

You have to be here for him right now, and just talk to him and allow him to express how he feels.

I think the bear would be cute.

And don't underestimate the grief he's experiencing. I still cry for my cat that died last year.We had her for eight years. It was like losing a best friend.
His pain will heal in time. and until it starts to ease all you can do is be a shoulder for him to lean on.

get him a new puppy.

I would make sure he is ready before getting him a new puppy. Some people are ready right away, but some need a little longer. I work at a vets office, and some people feel disloyal for "replacing" their pet right away, others need one right away before filling that void. The bear sounds like a cute idea. When I knew a lady whose horse died, we made her a little picture thing. We just took a nice piece of computer paper, and put a pic of the horse on it and included a nice little poem. There are a lot of nice ones on petloss.com and other websites like that. We put it in a frame and she loves it. When I had to have my horse pu down, I made one for him, but it is more poster size. It has lots of pics and about 5 poems and stuff. The Rainbow Bridge is a really good poem. I am really sorry to hear about the loss.

aw im sorry! Well, my dog died last year and I was heartbroken! she was so important to me. my boyfriend bought a picture frame and made a big collage of pictures of my dog that he got from my mother. i absolutely loved it! you should try it.. it will bring back good memories. Let him know that he will see his puppy in heaven! My mom bought me the movie ANimals in heaven... it proves from the Bible that animals will be in heaven with us. its great to know! Good luck!

I'm sorry you both are struggling with this right now. I've had to put 2 dogs to sleep and I miss them both terribly.

I like the photo idea - I'm an artist and have done photography and drawing projects for friends and family who've lost their pets. If you have any creative ability, you could make him a hand painted/drawn/photo collage picture. It will mean the world to him.
