welcome to america. i wish i could say i'm suprised by the video and accompanying news story. police officers wearing camo beating up kids? stuff like this happens, i've seen it firsthand. it's truly sad, and very indicative of the police-state we currently live in. as lame as i think raves are, i reallly think the police need to spend their time and money battling REAL crimes instead of busting a bunch of lame kids dancing in the desert without a proper permit.

I hate to sound callous but if you're gonna go to these things then realize the cops very well may come and bust it up. Take your lumps and move on. As far as people getting beaten up, I saw no real evidence on the video and you only have the word of some kid whose poor little good time got ruined by the cops that any such activity took place. These "victims" may very well have developed a serious attitude that bordered on the physical and were handled accordingly. Cops are never gentle at those times.

Also, the OP failed to mention the part about kids as young as 15 being drunk and the 17yr old girl who suffered from too much ecstacy. But hey, no worries, let the cops tend to real crimes; I'm sure whoever is providing booze and drugs to children is in actuality an upright individual who just wants to have fun, and to share the fun with others.

Kids are gonna do what they are gonna do, call it a rite of passage or something. But once again, be prepared to take your lumps.

In Britain the police would probably join in.

Most police here don't know what an M16 is....

I would probably agree with you here. I lived in wondsworth in london and I saw many instances of police breaking up pub fights. They were awsome. They never ever hit anyone or anything. My veiw was from the second story and across the road so it was just like whatching "cops" on TV (but in london).

I saw this video footage two nights ago. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. I've been to many huge parties and never seen cops use excessive force like what I saw an a video. But then again, I've never heard of "National Guard" attending a rave either. The National Guard are supposed to be used in case of a national emergency. I don't call a "Rave" a national emergency.

I don't like the idea of kids using drugs, but the cops could have gone about it differently. We used to party like that on this guys private property. There was a band and a campground. The cops would wait on the street for people to leave. One by one, they'd pull them over, search their car and send them on their way if they were ok to drive. We finally got frustrated and never went back.

So much for freedom of assembly. I wonder when they'll start burning our books?

Ya, shame on the police. Next time just leave the teenagers to their raves where they can OD and otherwise beat themselves up.

Actually, from a libertarian perspective, that's not a half bad idea. Kinda sad though, nevertheless teenagers know everything already and need to be free to harm, err, express themselves.

I've watched it twice and don't really see what you say is going on. It looks like they are arresting a couple of people and have them on the ground.

Yeah, I frankly don't see anything-- Like what was being claimed. I'd think if there was actual footage of a 16 year old girl being beaten they would have shown it.

All we have is the word of some kid that is POed that the party got busted up and the police arrested some people. Obviously there were cameras at the scene, so were is the footage of the excessive force and brutality?

As much as Americans like to talk about freedom and liberty, Americans love to violently suppress any actual enjoyment of said freedoms and liberties.

Neither of those links give me anything I can actually look at on my computer for some reason.

Eh, I'm not impressed.

I got maced by a cop at a Black Sabbath concert festival recently, BUT it was my own damn fault for standing too close to the skinheads that were there to see Pantera, who decided to try to dismember a police officer who was attempting to stop them from burning down a sound tower.

I could cry how I was unjustly maced, and whine about how my freedoms were being trampled upon, but I'd actually prefer that the freedoms of others to not have a burning sound tower drop suddenly upon their unsuspecting heads were upheld first. Also, consider the cop's freedom to not be dismembered while trying to protect the aformentioned freedom from firey death.
