Still a lot of people especially when you include 2/3 of the previous 108 billion who have already died all for not being born in the right religion.
They knew the nature of GOD because HE made himself plain to them but they loved sin more than the truth: Rom 1:18-end. The circumstances of their birth has nothing to do with their eternal fate which was sealed before the foundation of the world by the election of some but not others giving Jn 3:18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God's one and only Son. deeper meaning.

Don't you know that your religion has much more to do with the one you were born into than than anything else?
I contend that one's birth on earth has nothing to do with their making the free will decision to accept or reject YHWH and the Son by faith before the foundation of the world aka the creation of the physical universe which we all saw and for which we all sang HIS praise: Job 38:7 ...while the morning stars sang together and all the sons of God shouted for joy? about the creation.

Our FATES were sealed by our faith based decision about GOD which caused some to be chosen as HIS elect and the rejecters becoming HIS eternal enemies. Then the earth was created and all sinners were flung here to sequester the polite society of heaven from our evil.

They knew the nature of GOD

People who are born into a non Christian family are not likely to know much if anything about the nature of the Christian God and many religions are hostile to Christianity. There is even hostility among the thousands of Christian denominations.

Judaism scholars would disagree:

"What a shock when Christians encounter a Jewish mode of reading these same books. As the Jewish scholar Moshe Goshen-Gottstein put it, where Christians see the Bible as a story about God, humanity and salvation, Jews read it as being about God, people and land. The story of Adam and Eve is a minor theme. Much more central is God’s call of Abraham to be the father of a great nation, and a blessing to the whole world through his obedient following of God’s way. There is no grand narrative in the Hebrew Bible, certainly not one that would culminate in the coming of Jesus, but more a collection of individual stories, sayings and teachings that together constitute a tissue of instructions on how to live a good life as a Jew. There is little emphasis on “salvation,” if that is understood in otherworldly terms as “heaven,” and much more stress on the life of God’s people under the covenant. The prophetic books do not come last so as to lead into the New Testament, but follow the Torah (the books of Moses) as commentary on it."

Perhaps we will know for certain someday, then again, perhaps not. In the meantime if your belief helps you to be a better person then it's a benefit.

"The nature of the God Christians believe in"

Having actually read the Bible I find I know more
about said God than a majority of Christians I've spoken to.

Ah -- that explains why you won't speak to me then.

To add: This panet is a prison for only the reprobate demonic satanists and those few elect who rebelled against the judgment of their friends who were self created satanic demons.
And I thought Scientology was far-fetched...

I have a standing challenge for anyone to find a bible verse with even a possible interpretation that would make our pre-conception existence unscriptural. Other than that, your scorning opinion is moot.

Pre-conception "we" were just an ovum and a sperm. Neither of these can have continued existence without the other. Those two cells grew in the gonads of different people, who need not have ever met before or after the encounter that permitted the two cells to meet at conception. I fail to see how "scripture" comes into this particular fact. [Since this is the C/E board scripture does come into the "debate", but on this inquiry.]

Someone was here and saw the creation and sang for joy, Job 38:7, what is your proof it was not us? And where was the ovum and sperm for ALL these Sons of GOD?

I just noticed you are an atheist...my faith rests on the work of the Holy Spirit and the Bible which, though meaningless to you are a necessary part of my pov.

Well, this is a science forum. So...
I missed that.
The question of
What is the purpose of life?
would seem to have no meaning from a scientific pov so I assumed it was a theological question. Sorry to intrude.

It's an honest mistake. I noted on page 7 that the mods made an odd choice to move this (from where?) to a science forum when apologetics might have been a better option ... or some Christians Only sub-forum.

But, yeah, things that can be accepted only on faith won't get much of a hearing here. (Of course, what am I saying? We do debate creationism after all. [/snark])

That is a lot of people who did not listen to Him of if so few people convert to Christianity from their birth religion.

How can someone believe in something they never learned about or learned negative things about?
