What is the Most Important thing to prep?

When Christian missionaries put these in, since so much hand pumping is involved, and women and teens end up with the chore, and especially if drought is an issue, a treadle pump is put in like this. Otherwise it would take a lot of handpumping to water the crops when rainfall is inadequate. Plus the livestock need quite a bit of water. Plus washing. Plus cleaning.

I am trying really hard not to give a way too much on a publicly watched online forum but let's put it this way. Not if, but when a disaster strikes you haven't even determined if you are staying or going. So first things first. I am familiar with open and closed water systems, wells, springs, etc., and municipal water sources will be gone quickly. I do understand what you are saying but I am not suggesting to anyone to put water into a contaminated container and drink it. What I am trying to say is to collect water while you can within the first few hours of a disaster and do it with whatever you can. THEN you can focus on cleaning it for drinking and medicinal purposes. Store as much as you can as fast as you can, clean what you drink then begin to work progressive on the filtering and collection systems. People get sick from cisterns and other open water sources because animals tend to die in them. Pathogens can be airborne, waterborne, blood-borne, from fleas and ticks, birds, hogs, dogs, and cats. Filter straws can be used for personal drinking while you work on shelter and long term filtering and collection. As far as that goes I see no reason to post every type or idea on this forum because anybody who can read this forum can access the WWW and find what might work better for them. In Christ the solid rock I stand..., all other ground is sinking sand.

Yep, love the Berkey. For drinking water it's the way to go and it's easy and light to transport if you need to leave your location.

Oh yeah. I knew what you meant. In the film The Road, the protagonist wakes up as flames are burning and he is hastily filling up every container and sink as fast he can because he has no idea how long the water will run.

Let's pray it's not like that as most of the time things ramp up and grow increasingly unstable. At the first sign of trouble you should be filling a waterBob or similar like hastily cleaning a washer.

It's smart to have water on hand at all times. I live far from any coast and in a small town. I doubt we get many people here based on predictable migration if urban folks have to flee. The closest big city would flee into their suburbs and agricultural region. My region is very agricultural. The worst case scenario is the East Coast as so many urban zones are right on top of each other such that you could flee from one urban zone and run out of gas in a strange urban zone. And then on foot never get to a proper rural zone.

On the West Coast you are facing a similar issue but fleeing into desert or mountains and that is very bad. East Coast people fleeing in my direction have to face some very hostile to outsiders hillbillies. I doubt they can bust through.

I have lived by a bayou or water source all of my life so i have seen that people around here are not even thinking of such a problem. As far as they are concerned water is always around and will always be. There are five major disasters we face in the United States. (a) Bad - Massive sunspot (b) Worse - EMP or Man-made Electro-Magnetic Pulse (c) Worser - Major earthquake off the coast of Oregon or know as the Cascadia Subduction Zone. (d) even worser - Catastrophic quake on the San Andreas Fault triggers an event on the Cascadia Subduction Zone and together the entire west coast of the US, Canada, and Alaska are gone inland to the Sierras. (e) No Contest - Yellowstone Caldera full blown eruption. If we lose the west coast harbors to a tsunami the likes of what the CSZ can generate it would be devastating but eventually recoverable. The resources we have in the central and eastern US and our allies could eventually rebuild because once the land mass stabilizes it would support new structures. But the Yellowstone Caldera eruption, if full blown, would literally destroy the America we know today and there would be no coming back. The ash cloud would create a nuclear winter that would destroy plant and animal life unheard of since the great flood. The only hope any living person might have is for the rapture to happen just before it blew because death by volcanic ash would be excruciating. Short and quick but excruciating nonetheless. Our only hope is in Jesus Christ. If the Lord wants us to continue on he would lend us a way. But if not at least our salivation has been assured. Yet, as for the water...? Imagine every drop on earth for hundred of years to be acidic and imagine the flows of mud turned to ash concrete many, many feet thick all across the central U.S.A. No grass, no water, no air to breath, no sunlight. Only God could overcome that.

There are maps of that online showing that would totally cripple the USA. Most of the food is made on the Western half. This is why I do not live on that half though way back when ...I was interested in Idaho.

Consider this. It would be so devasting that it would indeed completely destroy any chance the last Christian nation on the Earth with any military power could oppose the Antichrist. It would darken the clouds and make the sun dark by the barrier and initially would create a blood moon. It might affect the satellites and cause them to plummet as control is lost fulfilling Matthew 24 and Revelation too.

It's a worse case scenario. All transport would stop. The ashes would turn water into sulphuric acid. Bugging out people would die from inhalation but they might have a chance as sheltering in place would likely kill the citizens of the Western US. The population density is far lower though except for California mostly.

In fact, it's been said before that Russia or China might target the caldera on purpose for maximum effect.

I am glad that Jesus Christ is our hope and salvation because I only worry about my loved ones who have not committed their lives to the Lord.

Sometime families get together and watch a film. Certain films have post-apocalyptic elements. They are opportunities to have a discussion on either salvation or pragmatic prepping.

Few wives will resist having better stocked pantries as that saves money due to persistent inflation. Few arguments arise when suggesting frugal family vacations by camping and hiking. Teach your kids ancestral skills like cooking, navigating trails, hunting fishing, trapping, identifying wild edibles, herbal medicine from ordinary plants, crafts, carpentry, shooting firearms, riding a horse, building a temporary shelter. Kids go through a period from age six on up when they enjoy these things and some so instilled then will continue into their teens and into young adulthood.

You have to teach it so it fulfills some practical need whether pleasure through adventure or saving money or demonstrating adulthood. Today young people think they are mature when they age. In history maturity was self-evident by what your fruits were and demonstrated by daily skills. That proved you were an adult and ready to marry and ready to start a family.

Everything today in society is catywampus and out of control and purt near useless.

Salvation through Jesus Christ has an appeal to young people when taught good morality and the Summary of the Law. That is entirely altruistic. The main problems of American society are sexual immorality and feminism. They are linked and contrary to Scripture. Thus rogues think they are mature enough to have sex to assert their authority. When Jesus demands we become born again and yield our authority to GOD.

Young people got married early when they displayed true adulthood and mostly didn't divorce. Thus their innate sexual desire was tempered by adult romantic intimacy within marriage. I know that surprises some but once Americans married at seventeen and eighteen and very few went to college. That was for the idle rich.

So maybe the church should facilitate healthy Christian relationships in which one set of inlaws acts to shepherd the young couple by housing them just as happened from Jamestown Virginia in 1607 through to 1945.
