"Non-Denominational" just indicates that the church is not affiliated with any major denomination, such as Presbyterian, Baptist, or United Pentecostal. Generally ND churches are "governed" locally rather than by some centralized governing body. There is no central doctrine that unites Non-Denominational churches. Some are very basic/fundamental Bible churches, others are very liberal, and others are spirit-filled/charismatic, like mine. We do not consider ourselves to be "protestant", but I suppose we are generally closer to being protestant than being of any liturgical tradition, since I've yet to see a ND church that uses any kind of formal liturgy in their worship. What in the world is a "Non-Denominational" church?
Very good. I agree, that is how my church is as well.1.We believe that Scripture is given by inspiration of God. By this we understand that the whole Bible is inspired in the sense that holy men of God were moved by the Holy Spirit to write the very words of Scripture. We believe that this divine inspiration extends equally and fully to all parts of the writings (historical, poetical, doctrinal, and prophetical) as appeared in the inerrant, original manuscripts.
2.We believe the Godhead eternally exists in three persons the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
3.We believe that Jesus Christ was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, and received a human body and sinless human nature; yet, He retained His absolute deity, being at the same time truly God and truly man.
4.We believe in the Deity and Personality of the Holy Spirit, Who indwells every true believer.
5.We believe that man was created in the image of God; that he sinned and thereby incurred not only physical death, but also spiritual death, which is separation from God; and that all human beings are born with a sinful nature.
6.We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures as a representative and substitutionary sacrifice, and that all who believe in Him are justified on the basis of His shed blood.
7.We believe in the bodily resurrection and ascension of Jesus Christ and His present intercession in heaven for His saints.
8.We believe that the Church, the Body of Christ, is composed of all those who personally receive Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord.
9.We believe in the reality and personality of Satan.
10.We believe in That Blessed Hope, the personal, premillenial and imminent return of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
11.We believe in the bodily resurrection of the just and of the unjust; the everlasting blessedness of the saved; and the everlasting, conscious punishment of the lost.
12.We believe that upon salvation, we are divinely reckoned to be related to this world as strangers and pilgrims, ambassadors and witnesses, and that our purpose in life should be to make Christ known to the whole world.
For everyone or just certain folks?Very good. I agree, that is how my church is as well.
To add to that:
My church believes in Anointing of the Holy Spirit, Speaking in Tongues, Prophecy, Laying on of Hands for Healing.
Ok, I'll clarify on this one:For everyone or just certain folks?
Not my church. It seems the non-denom churches really push that consumer-Christianity product that is all the rage these days.
(Zecryphon, I'm sorry your experience was bad but to apply one experience to all ND churches seems unfair.)
Our church doesn't care how many people come to our church and it's been that way for years. If and when the Lord brings them in, He brings them in. Not that we don't invite people to our church. The Word is preached at our church and a lot of people don't want to hear The Word. We don't have programs, etc. We come together to praise and worship the Lord and to be lead by the Holy Spirit. So sometimes just praising the Lord may last an hour and some people want the sermon to be almost finished by that time.
Plus when we look at humans, we're going to be disappointed every time. We just have to keep our focus on the Lord.
Also, I believe we should pray and ask the Lord where He wants us to go to church and if we're to leave. Also, once at the church where He wants you, we need to pray about what we're to do. Most people seem to go by how they feel but as you know feelings often can get us into trouble.
