What Firewalls are ya runnin'?

I really like the Sygate firewall but since it's not supported any more (by which I understand that it is not being updated?) I guess I'll return to ZoneAlarm, which I didn't really care for but it's better than nothing.

What are y'all using out there?

I tried Sygate once as well - but I've got simple ol' ZA. However I'm not all that familiar with my router's firewall and whether I actually need ZA any more.

No Firewall. My NAT router is enough to block ports, I have strong passwords, I know what services I run on each port, and my box is not compatible with 99% of the viruses around anyway

I have a wireless router which I use as my main firewall. Each computer behind the router also has it's own software firewall running.

For my two Windows boxes my ISP provides a free security package from F-Secure and I use that firewall.

Before I got my router I had my Mac Mini hooked directly to my cable modem with no firewall whatsoever. Never had a problem but after about 3 months I decided to turn on the internal OSX firewall...better safe than sorry. My iBook has always been behind my router with it's internal firewall turned on.

I'm using the Window's firewall on my laptop. To my credit I don't have Internet service.

Just the free version of ZoneAlarm, used in conjunction with a router and Firefox 1.5, so I very rarely have problems with anything (especially since I often turn off JavaScript in Firefox except to get into Hotmail or other sites that absolutely require it). Under Linux I don't run a firewall, but that's basically because I just started using it - I probably still wouldn't be running one, though.

I have tried many firewalls before. Currently I am running trend micro pc cillin. It is a great firewall. I get updates about 3-4 times a day and it catches the viruses before they attack my system.

I have tried Norton firewall before. Believe me, do not install norton onto your computer as:

- It does not prevent the majority of viruses
- Has lousy firewall that can be easily hacked
- Mucks up the windows registery (which eventually causes slow downs)
- To expensive for what you pay for

Don't need one for virus protection -- I run Linux. I've configured the firewall on my NAT router though. Seems to work fine.
I've used Norton Internet Security on Windows before and it's not worth what I paid for it. Very slow, crashed a lot, and can be bypassed.

Free version of ZoneAlarm on a non-XP machine. On XP machines, just the built in one. Also behind a fairly nice router.

I use Norton Internet Security - never had any problems with crashes. seems to work fine. Can get it cheap on e-bay.

My ISP seems to detect viruses before I get my email, and I'm sitting behind a NAT router anyway. Real belt & braces me.
