What errors and inventions arose in Roman Catholicism?

The first day of the week is Scriptural. Saturday worship was done away with, nailed to the cross. This was a part of the Old Covenant which we r no longer under.

Please take a look at the verses I posted above about O.C.

Acts 20:7 gives us an example as to the day (the first day of the week) when the disciples came together in His name, and to break bread (a part of communion).

1 Cor. 16:2 "On the 1st day of the week let each one of u lay something aside, storing up as he may prosper...." (it is commanded that we should also give on the 1st day of the week)

So the Protestant way is to do onto others what they do to us? I heard that some of your Bibles have been altered, but I haven't heard of that verse.

This isn't true. We do have a debate sub-board, it is called General Theology, as at least half of these threads have something to do with Catholicism.

Not truly complaining though. One of the things I do find interesting is the need for Protestants, to well constantly justify to themselves why they aren't Catholic.

He's not wrong though, LLOJ. Why are folks in GT always targeting Catholics?

I think these sorts of debates regarding Catholics have been beaten to death and if they NEED to happen, maybe we should discuss similar matters as they pertain to maybe Seventh-Day Adventists, Calvinists or Evangelical/Non-Denominational Christians. Nobody ever acknowledges that mess.

I say those denominations because those folks are almost always the ones leading the charge into disparaging Roman Catholics or other traditional groups.

Did you read my previous post? The mirror opposite of this thread has been running for a long time now with Catholics having a good time making fun of Protestants.

Well as I see it alot has been added to in alot of "churchs" If people would just get back to their first Love Jesus. We have CC stating things about protestants.. even the name signifies what the RCC believes. One man reading scripture see's the truth and bam it went from there.. Next thing we new He was a heretic and then we see that those who came out from the CC turning to violence also.. Jesus nailed it on the head when He said that people like darkness instead of light..

I think there was a mess before the reform, but the counter-reformation and council of Trent sent things from bad to worse very quickly. Making the apocrypha cannon, for example, was a real bad move.

Several things that are used as proof texts for ungodly practices and doctrines such as purgatory and prayers for the dead. To say nothing of the fact that it wasn't scripture for 1500+ years, then it suddenly was

Your slippery slope fallacy does not wash here. As I am sure you know, but for some reason are not acknowledging, people can and do appeal to any number of canonical Scripture in the Protestant bible to promote "ungodly practices and doctrines."

So, once again, what is contained in the Apocrypha that made it such a bad idea?

It was already canon, before Trent. It is the Protestants somewhere down the line, who removed these books out of the Christian Bible. The Catholic Church (both east and west) established the canon, in the 5th and 6th centuries. The Orthodox added a few more, due to their usage in the liturgy, and the Protestants took away some out of ignorance.

Perhaps you need to do some study on this topic. The books that were rejected by the reformers, were/are Scripture and have been Scripture since the beginning of the Church, as we have evidence from the Fathers who quoted from these books as Scripture, as well as them being part of the established lists of canon in the 4th and 5th centuries.

You are right the Catholic Church identified them as Scripture, but you just got the timing wrong. It occurred more than 1000 years before you claim. Close but not quite accurate on your dating.

Ah yes, the ole term "quid pro quo" comes to mind......

Quid pro quo ("this for that" in Latin) means an exchange of goods or services, where one transfer is contingent upon the other.
English speakers often use the term to mean "a favour for a favour"; phrases with similar meaning include: "give and take", "tit for tat", and "you scratch my back, and I'll scratch yours."...........
