Not sure about artificial contraception but I'm pretty sure that the church teaches that abortion is allowed if the life of the mother is threaten or rape iI'm pretty sure but not completly .Though I disagree with it I only think its ok if the mother is in risk but thats just me.

These are statements from the official websites, though we do not make these issues a major part of our teaching. Nor can you say there is a definite view held by all members.

I don't think that most Adventists even know what the church's official position is on these things because they don't make a big deal out of it at all--not that we all have to agree wth it anyway. They certainly are not as outspoken as many other Christian groups on issues like abortion. I have heard many different views on these topics among Adventists in churches that I have attended.

Artificial contraception and abortion in the case of rape and a mother's life being in danger because of the pregnancy?

Hello

The bible teaches that God opens and Shuts the Womb

Isaiah 66:9 Shall I bring to the birth, and not cause to bring forth? saith the LORD: shall I cause to bring forth, and shut [the womb]? saith thy God.
Man always trys to over ride God either by Artificial Contraception or Fertility drugs to get what they want. Not what God wants. In the case of RAPE and the women falling pregnant. Who opened the Womb? Did the Man who raped her or did God? Sometimes something Good comes out of something Bad. but why should the BABY suffer for the sins of someone else?

If you think of Jephthah he was the son of a Harlot and he became a Judge of Israel. In the time of the Judges. If she had , had an abortion like so many harlot's did, Israel would not hav had a Judge to rescue them!

In the Case of Mothers Life or Childs Life Pray for God's Guidance. For it is not the will of God to have either Perish but to have Eternal LIFE. But if one must Perish they will be together in the life to come.

If you want Our personal convition for what its worth, i would ABORT the baby. to SAVE the mother. And Receive the baby in the Kingdom to come. To save him from any suffering on this earth.

Hope this helps

Have a lovely Sabbath

I think that the church's official statement is a guideline. It is not a doctrine. It presents some good principles, but not all Adventists agree with everything it says. Some Adventists don't believe that life begins at conception and are fine with abortion. Some are much more conservative and make allowances only for rape/incest or a threat to the life of the mother. Some would make no allowances at all.

I personally would not choose to abort my baby even if I were raped. I just couldn't take the life of an innocent child, no matter how that child was conceived. Also, if I found out that my life was in danger because of my preganancy but that my child had a chance to survive, I wouldn't get an abortion. I would do anything I could to save my baby, even at the risk of my own life.

The church leaves some of this up to pesronal conviction, though, and I think that's a good thing. Not everyone would make the same decisions that I would make, and the Bible doesn't specifically address the particulars of abortion in different circumstances. We do have biblical principles to go by, though, and I believe that abortion in most cases would definitely violate those principles.

As far as contraception, I agree with the general consensus that contraception is not morally wrong although I definitely believe that abortion for this purpose would be wrong. However, I know many Adventists who are against birth control, usually for health reasons (because of the hormones in birth-control pills and such).
