Sure, Jesus accepts us where we are but if we are to lead His flock doesnt he demand more of us than we are often willing to give? Shouldn't (as your signature indicates) Christ shine in us?michaeldimmickjr said:The world may not, but Jesus does.

They can dish it out and people are either the ones being targeted or the ones lapping it up . However , when they are the ones being discussed with the same measure , all of a sudden , it is not appropriate . Do as I do - not as I say type-of-thing .
JS is probably extremely bitter because of the humiliation and lack of mercy shown him by the media and, unfortunately, other Christians. I know I probably would be bitter, too. But that does not give him a license to forget his own failures when he is unmercifully laying into those he does not agree with. It is the merciful who receive mercy (Matt. 5.7) and it is no wonder that he still has not been shown any more than he has. Apparently, he is a very slow learner.Izzy23 said:I like him. Not because he is perfect but because he is not. God is a God of mercy and forgiveness and because of one persons mistakes we can learn much. I hope he has grown closer to God and is walking a closer path to Him. Keep your focus on God and not on man.
Peace
Except that he was bitter before he got caught the first time, and gave the media the free shot at him.Jim M said:JS is probably extremely bitter because of the humiliation and lack of mercy shown him by the media and, unfortunately, other Christians. I know I probably would be bitter, too.

I have prayed for him many times but Ill admit it is hard to pray with compassion after hearing one of his tirades.

You also have a good point. But just how human are our leaders supposed to be and does that go for leaders who steal or murder or beat their wives or are pedophiles? Visiting prostitutes in Louisiana is just as much a crime as any of those. Rebuking sinfulness in a leader , even publicly (Those who are sinning rebuke in the presence of all, that the rest also may fear, 1 Timothy 5.20), can be just as much an act of mercy as excusing (sometimes mistakenly called forgiving) and/or ignoring their sin.michaeldimmickjr said:Very good point! Christ should shine on anyone who professes to be a Christian! What I'm saying is that when a Brother in Christ shows that he is human, why are Christians the first to point out the short-comings of others? Are we not suppossed to be the ones that set the example of forgiveness? "Allhave sinned and fall short of the glory of God." - Romans 3:23

Jesus might forgive them but He would also discipline them. He mercifully gave Judas space to repent, too, but the inevitable finally happened.michaeldimmickjr said:Would Christ not forgive them if they asked? Are we not suppossed to walk as He walked?

Maybe it would be beneficial to this board to make a sticky, giving a very precise and accurate biblical definition of the act and words of judging and judgement. It seems everyone has their own opinion on what it is, what it looks like, and how it's done.
I mean, is pointing out someone sin really judging and condeming them? I seriously doubt anyone here is doing that. I think establishing a biblical definition would be beneficial to the board, considering the large amount of posts containing the subject.
