I posted this in the WD but I have a feeling I'll get more answers here....

I'm going to Home Depot tomorrow to buy plants for the outside of the house....I'm looking for mums to put in big pots to sit by the front door, then thinking about impatients (sp?) to put in some smaller pots to maybe sit by them and also out on the lanai. Also loooove the smell of magnolia, don't they come in small bushes or plants that you can have in a pot?

Thinking "pots" because we've not treated the soil around the front & back of the house yet to plant in the ground...

Gardenia and Jasmine are 2 wonderfully scented, flowering plants that do very well in containers. They can't take frost so you'd have to bring them in if you get really cold temps.

One of the best ways to find out what grows in your area - seed/plant catalogs (i.e. Burpees). They list everything according to growing zones. They'll ship plants too.

Thanks! We rarely if ever get frost here (SW Florida), so I might be on the lookout for one of those plants.

I'm also going to check out Burpees online...thanks for the tip!
